Good morning!

Yesterday at 1:27PM I lost my mother.  Not only did I lose my Mother, I lost my BFF as they put it.  There are so many memories of her and I loved her dearly.  Mother was always here ... when I took my first real estate test exam, there she was waiting patiently and confidently (that I would do outstanding) in the lobby of the building.  In subsequent events (when I was in DC I was licensed in 3 jurisdictions) she was there with me.

When I had my first closing ... there was mother on the phone with me because she knew I was nervous.  When I was defending my doctoral dissertation proposal, I was working in Atlanta and had to travel back to Tampa to defend (part of a process).  As I was walking through the huge Atlana airport, who was there to keep me company on he flight down ... Mother.  She never asked how I did ... she just ALWAYS assumed that I did well ...

When I got my driver's license ... there she was .... individual music competitions had my Mom right there either in the parking lot or "volunteering" as a helper.

Mother had been ill for over a year.  I had cut back on my real estate career to take care of Mother.  She would have done the same for me.  I had to use all my savings to help her with the enormous medical expenses she was incurring.  It was so much!  But I did it because after all she's my Mom and my BFF.  Now I have to figure out how I'm going to go on.

Mother loved reading the rain.  She found the info useful, informative, humorous at times, and just so much fun.

As of yesterday Mother had left the rain and she has left a large hole in our group for me!

Dana:  I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Mother.  My mom passed away almost 22 years ago... to the day.  It was very hard for me then... and it still is now, too.  I think of her often... and talk to her... in my own way... some nights when I go to bed... just before I fall asleep.  My thoughts are with you, Dana.  Take care...

I am also sorry for your loss... I lost my father 20 some years ago and dread the day I know will come when I lose my best friend. I feel your pain and wish I could ease it... time will help.. but never forget the good times and her good heart...

Dana:

Losing a mother is a tough part of life.  Be glad for the good one you had.  Find a way to pay it foreward.

She is still watching.

Dana,

I lost my Mom, when I was 20 years old.  I cannot tell you, how lucky you were to have your Mom, by your side all this time.  I, like, Karen do think of her often.  Some days, when my children were young, I thought that I became her.  There are days when I find myself stronger than others.  Those strong days are from my Mom. Believe it or not, those genes run strong.  I bet that you will become the same champion, that your Mom was.  Make her proud and continue her strong constitution.

My prayers are with you,

Fran

@ Fran:  You mentioned about how at time you felt that you "became" your mother.  I know what you mean.  I have had, and still have those times, too.  I will be doing something, and I say to myself... gee... this is what mom would do.  And it was.

Older sisters are another thing.  I have wished all my life that I had had an older sister.  Then one day it came to me.  I need to somehow BE my own older sister.  It may sound funny, but just that silly thing has helped me take care of myself at times.

I went to a viewing recently for my brothers in Christ who lost their mom. I had to be there for them. You could feel the presence of the Lord in that place and it was nice to see family and longtime friends who were there to honor her life. I do understand loss because i lost my dad 11 years ago.

Dana, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I know it must be hard for you. I too have been helping my Mom for the past couple of years because her health is bad. We never know how much time we have with our parents and each day I am thankful to still have my Mom around. She too is my best friend. I know your business has suffered during this time and I know how important it is to keep hanging on, it will get better. My loss in business is nothing to the gain I've had to share the time with my Mom. I know you feel the same and with each new day, strive to make your life better. Real estate is the only reason I could stay with my Mom and I'm proud to have the business I have. One day when she is gone, I too will wonder what to do. I believe you have hugs going out to you from your friends on active rain. Tomorrow, take those hugs and the words of your Mom and visit some of the people you helped in your business. It will help you remember how well you always do, just like Mom said.

Take care,

Debra Davis
