Hosmer Fly FishingIf you are looking for the perfect place to cast a fly Hosmer Lake may be the end of your search. Hosmer Lake is 160 acres of water that is surrounded by peaceful beauty. Depth is only 8 to 10 feet in most places, but the water is cold even in the middle of summer, it is not unusual to find snow on the banks even in June or early July.

Hosmer produces some of the most fun fly fishing in Central Oregon. There is a strict catch and release law for any Atlantic Salmon - but you are allowed 5 Brook Trout per day if they are over 8" in length.

Although Hosmer is known for fly fishing I find that it is the perfect place to head out in a kayak. The beauty of this lake is beyond what most people will ever experience. You have spectacular views of many of the peaks of the Cascade Mountains. You will find breath taking views of Mt. Bachelor, South Sister and Broken Top.

Hosmer is the home to many elk, deer, ducks and other wildlife that make Central Oregon a special place to call home.

Hosmer fly fishingHosmer is known as one of Oregon's quiet waters; this fly fishing lake sees lots of canoes/kayaks and is ideal for drift boats, float tubes and pontoon boats for accessing the prime Central Oregon fly fishing water. Hosmer does allow electric motors but it does not allow gasoline engines but any motor must be OFF when fly fishing.
There are an amazing number of birds and animals here on Hosmer Lake Oregon. Bitterns, Ducks, Geese, Ospreys, Bald Eagles, Deer, Red-Winged Blackbirds and many others.
In the early season, it is the wise person who remembers to bring his/her Mosquito repellant as the little monsters can be voracious up here and are not shy about coming out over the fly fishing lakes.

While there are good campsites and outhouses here, there are no drinking water or shower facilities, plan ahead.
Hosmer Lake in Oregon can be an almost magical place, but it does not give up its secrets easily.

This is just one of the magical places in Central Oregon. When you want to make Central Oregon your home or you find it the perfect place for your vacation home I would be happy to share this fabulous area. The real estate market offers as many choices of behosmer lake birdauty as the scenery does.

Central Oregon Real Estate has a lot of great possibilities.

8 pound trout? Breaded lightly in Beer batter and fried with Walla Walla sweet onions in a cast iron skillet over a hot morning fire on a cold clear morning......oops sorry I got carried away.

Thesa,

Sounds like a quiet place to enjoy a lovely day.  That first picture could easily be from a postcard.  Is this a natural lake or is it man-made?

I LOVE OREGON! Nothing like catching a trout on a dry fly. No talking. Just fishing. My wife once asked what my friends and I talk about while fishing. I laughed. Talking? Who needs talking?
