Sales up, prices too in the Myrtle Beach SC area

By
Real Estate Agent with Eagle Realty

It was reported today single family home sales in July jumped  9 percent according local market analyst Tom Maeser. The increases are the first in nearly two years,

The numbers indicate condominium prices are up 4 percent to $197,507.

Too early to be called a trend, but looking up for realistic sellers. Hopefully, my clients in the NE sitting on the fence will take this into consideration when deciding when to finally pull the trigger.

Hi Diane,,, I'm in a residential AND resort area. Prices on condos fell hard but have stabilized with the recent increase in sales which I'll not yet call a trend. Investors have been coming in again seeing a better Housing faired far better. Lots of Yankees still want to move here and especially retire here. We also are still seeing a lot of Canadian buyers and people from Fl expressing interest. Taxes are low, the weather is great, and the ocean plus tourist amenities are near. We will not even mention the golfers. Homes $1m & up are slow to move. Now I can find ocean front homes in both NC and SC under a million- still paying mostly for the lot in most cases. If the lottery is good to me tonight I'll be moving from close to the beach to on it. Yes, ocean front and ocean view are moving but so are homes up to about 20 minutes away since they can now be found from $150K on up. Much of our housing stock is newer- 10 years or less which also helps buyers feel more confident. Nice to hear you are seeing an increase too.

Glad to see that what apparently started here a year ago has finally made its way across country to South Carolina. Our home sales have been up for 13 consecutive months, and prices have been up for 7 consecutive months. When August figures come out, I expect it to be 14 and 8.

I hope your numbers continue to rise Russ. CA was hit 1st and was one of the hardest hit so it is only fair CA began the turn-- hopefully it is a trend!
