I am not an SEO guru.

I don't even pay a ton of attention to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in my blogging efforts.  I freely admit it.  I'm not an expert even.  I'm not even sure if I deserve the title novice SEO trainee.  I do know a few tricks of the trade, but I wanted to instead introduce you to Jack Leblond.  He's one of those people who know this stuff inside and out.  I've been reading Jack's stuff over at AgentGenius for awhile and thought I'd point him out to everyone.

We all get the call where someone is trying to sell us their SEO marketing masterpieces at some ridiculous monthly fees, but thanks to AgentGenius and Jack, you get to learn from a master.  For free.  I'm sure Jack's not giving away all of his secrets tips and tricks and even if he did, the rules of SEO are often so complex that by the time you master one trick, it's outdated and the search engines are on to the next one.  Jack's articles focus on the basics that anyone can do with a little thought, planning, and repetition of the skills.  The more you do them, the more you'll find yourself implementing them on a daily basis.

Jack Leblond's latest SEO post.

This week, Jack published "SEO Ranking Factors - 2009" and it's so easy a monkey could do it...in fact, so simple, a monkey could train a caveman to do it.  A list of 5 good SEO factors and 5 negative SEO factors, this post can not only help you understand search engine optimization, but also help you push higher in the Google rankings.  The higher you climb and the more you appear, the more you will be found.  The more your found, the more people might just pick up that phone and give you a call.  Simple, isn't it?

So stop by Jack's post at AgentGenius, read it, learn it, and practice it.  You'll be glad you did.  Then check out all of Jack Leblond's posts at AgentGenius.

Great information.  I checked out (and bookmarked) Jack's post.  You made me laugh out loud with the monkey & caveman line.  It made me think of .. "A monkey & a caveman walk into a bar..."  Thanks Matt!

Thanks for the link, Matt.  I have done some studying on the subject 4 years ago when I tried to do some affiliate marketing (yeah, right...), but alot has changed since then.  I'm all for as much help as possible.  I do think, however, that good, heartful content and posts are a big key to alot, without spending alot of time worrying about what is or is not good...

Thanks again!

Matt, I saw this earlier on Twitter and was intrigued by the article. I too know little about the process and really just want to put in the key, start it up and drive away so always look for folks who can help me learn without confusing me?!?!?. I will check this guy out again. I have also been perusing Agent Genius lately and it's a pretty cool site that bears more investigation!

Thanks!

Thanks for the link, Matt. I think some bloggers really underestimate how complex SEO is. And as quickly as concepts and strategies change, Jack sounds like he may be a great resource.

Matt, maybe you could send that monkey over to my place.  Links in and out and anchors (thought they were on boats).

Must be the Law of Old Dogs.... can't teach them new tricks.

Oh well, maybe others will get it,  We have featured your article on "Be The Best In Your Field" Group.

Good post Matt.  I have been in the SEO biz myself for longer than I care to admit.  It has always been my goal to help educate folks on how SEO works.  Jack has always been a favorite of mine to read.

Tristan - Like you mention I think good quality content will get you pretty far.  That and some consistency.  Add a little well done SEO and suddenly you're number one.

Brian - He's well worth the read.  Since he is good at putting it in layman's terms it helps a lot as well.

Russell - I learned a lot of what I know over at AgentGenius.  They are one of my go to resources.

Gary - Get more customers?  Why didn't I think of that?  Haha.

John - It is very complex, which is one of the reasons I don't trust most experts.  I don't think half of the people calling to sell us SEO know what they're doing.  I had one guy on the phone who used a lot of buzz words, but when I asked him a simple question he had no idea what I was talking about.  Thanks, but no thanks Mr. Expert.

Greg - It's true.  I'm not as great as I appear.  Haha.

Al and Peggy - Jack makes it easy enough, just try and use a bit or two.  And if you have questions for him, post them on AgentGenius, I'm sure he'd be happy to explain further.

Rita - Yikes!  It does sound like a long week.

Wayne - Just checked out your site and I think you've done a great job in your "definitions" category.  Finally, there are some people out there that don't try to confuse agents with computer terms and jargon!  Glad to hear your a fan of Jack's as well.

Matt--I am a tech dummy, but I plan to bookmark this post and will check out links to Jack's blog.  I learn a little more, just a little at a time.  Otherwise I get overwhelmed and crawl back into the dark ages.
