100 DAYS OF CENTRAL MASS FEATURES PURGATORY CHASM STATE RESERVATION
A few days before my due date with our first son, James Jr., James and I visited Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, MA. I was so ready to have that boy and meet our first little baby that we decided to go for some light rock climbing and hiking. The chasm walls run about 1/4 of a mile long and as high as 70 feet tall. It originated at the end of the last Ice Age, more than 14,000 years ago. There are many trails leading up to several rock formations that were
romantically named. At Purgatory Chasm State Reservation you will find a visitor's center, restrooms, grills and picnic tables. Activities such as hunting with restrictions, cross country skiing, hiking, picnicking and sight seeing are available. It's a great place to enjoy if you're ever in the town of Sutton, check it out!
