Do I really need this? Ceil bought me this digital recorder; its really neat but I can't figure out how to use it. That is until my grandson came over last night and he gave me quick digital recorder lesson 101.

First Step: Put in batteries - OK - Piece of cake, no problem.

Second Step: Recorder. The recorder has the following features. Learn where each of these features is located and remember how to use them effectively for your needs. Should not be a problem, where's the Instructions?

Third Step: Folders - What the heck do you need folders for, all I want to do is talk into this thing and leave myself a few reminders.

Fourth Step: Date / Time - Forget that, I tried at least 15 times; right back where I started. Who needs date and time anyway?

Fifth Step: Recording Mode - Press Button and Speak

Sixth Step: Recording indicator (turns on when you are recording) Oh that little Red Light is blinking

Seventh Step: Voice Only Recording (allows you to keep the digital recorder on during the entire recording but the recording will only record when there is voice or sound. During silence, the digital recorder will pause). Ummmm Ummmmm OK if you say so.

Eighth Step: Elapsed time (indicates how long the message is). OK but how to stop this thing?

Ninth Step: Pause (allows you to pause a recording). Thank Goodness I found "Pause".

Tenth Step: Erase and make a new recording.

Ceil bought me a digital recorder. Great I can really use this. I'm excited, well two weeks later I've lost my enthusiasm.

Now let me tell you one thing, this thing is not simple. It came without an instruction book, I had to go on line and read through 60 pages of instructions and I still don't know how to use this dam digital recorder.

What happened to the kind that you turned a button, spoke message, erased it, and turned it off until the next time. All this business, press twice here, press three times there, by the time I do all that I'll forget what message I wanted to leave.

Ah yes Carl....technology.  Imagine it will make you work faster to be able to record vs write comments.

Myself, been fighting over whether or not to buy one of those Flip video recorders.  Seem pretty neat.

Old dogs can learn new tricks.  Gotta learn something new every day.

    Regards,

    Dominick

    I'm so laughing!

I have bought myself like 2 of these and guess what?

    I CAN'T FIND THEM!

Now, if I could find them maybe, just maybe they would help me be a little more organized!

OK you two, glad you got a good laugh. You should have seen me, what I state I was in. Garrett says, sit down grandpa and I'll teach you. My comment, go slow, sure hope I remember when I'm on my own. So far its still sitting on the kitchen counter.

Thanks Dominick and good luck when you get your new flip video recorder.

Thanks Sheila, sure hope you find yours. If I don't conquer this one I'll give it to you.

    Howdy there Carl and Ceil

Carl - I use a Digital Recorder myself, it comes in real handy. The one that I'm using now is a Olympus DS-40

It has a detachable stereo microphone. It has a low cut filter that minimizes the rumbling of an air conditioner and other machinery while I'm recording. It has 512 MB of embedded memory. I can record 136 hours and 15 minutes of low quality, 34 hours and 45 minutes of medium quality stereo, or 8 hours and 40 minutes of high quality stereo. It has five folders, each one holds 200 messages. It works up 32 hours with two AAA batteries. I sure do like the voice activated recording mode. I can even connect it up to my PC, by way USB.

Don't you just hate it when there are no decent instructions? why is it so hard for companies to make them.

Dale - Mine is just a plain Jane; your looks really nice. I have so much to keep up with now I don't know if I can keep track of another gadget. I may be just like Sheila and misplace it.

Bob and Carolin - They don't always include instructions anymore, they want you to go on line to get them. Our neighbor purchased a new printer the other day, it had instructions but not in English, they think it was Chinese.

Trey - I'm with you, it is second nature to these kids. Just like the technician that came to install our cable and program everything, he did it in less then three minutes, it would have taken me three days to program our TV's with the cable box.

My digital recorder is in my head!  It never shuts off!  It doesn't always replay messages in the same order, but it does replay them.

Hi Carl, I have one of these but it just sits in a drawer.  I never think about using it but I should.  Thanks for the reminder.

Shirley - I'm hoping to use mine if not to remind me of things I need to do. With so much going on its hard to remember, with that and my calendar I may be better off. It will remind me to put things on my calendar and the quotes I give.

Carl - I use it mostly on inspections, it comes in real handy to make notes. When your in a dark area, like a Crawl space, I also make a lot notes on it, of the outside area of the home.

    Carl,

I bought one several years ago.  Learned just the basics, now I do not even know where it is.

Donna - My brain doesn't seem to get things in the right order or if at all.

Shirley - Sometimes the instruction booklet is very confusing and make things seem difficult. I need the Express 1,2,3 kind of instructions.

Dale that is why I thought I would start using this one. We need lots of reminders.

Richard - Buying one I see everyone has, just like allot of other gadgets making ourself use it is the key.

Dale I was joking, there is no way you could keep an Anniversary a secret. The kids are already planning a Big Do for the 50th. I think Ceil and I will just disappear, we reallyl don't like allot of Hoopla. See ya at the Hang Out.
