Showing Reports...Does Anyone Do Them Anymore?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Platinum

I have had a super busy last few days....a GOOD thing for sure in real estate.  But, I am never too busy to do showing reports.

Over the last few years, but even more so recently, I have noticed a major decline in the amount of showing reports that I receive on my listings.  This really aggravates me!  I ALWAYS call the listing agent after a showing...usually right after I leave the house, so it is fresh in my mind.

Most of the time, my buyer is not interested in the home and will not be submitting an offer.  However, it still is useful for the listing agent and seller to hear my and my buyer's feedback!  We might mention something that the seller has not heard before, or hasn't considered.  I might give my opinion on the list price compared to others I have seen, etc etc etc.  Isn't this a professional courtesy we should all expect and do ourselves???

Usually, I have to "hunt the showing agent down" for feedback on my listings.  I know I am a bit (he he) anally organized and responsiveness is something that I pride myself on.  I know not everyone is like this...but, is it too much to ask for a few seconds out of the agent's time to forward showing feedback?

Arrggggg...I welcome your thoughts!

We hear you...I think now lots of times people are waiting for the automated e-mail reports and we prefer the "real thing" so we can have some hopefully helpful dialog with the agent and return that to the sellers...they are the same people who don't like it when you are 5 minutes out the door of their listing and have not called them...grrrrrrr.

Kristin, yes I do showing reports.  The sellers appreciate them, and the feedback underscores any suggestions I've been giving the sellers.

Hey, Kristin. I am amazed at how many agents don't leave feedback. It is simple to do, not to mention the right thing to do. Thanks, Jim

We have an automatic email system that sends an email to the showing  agents 1 hour after their scheduled showing requesting feedback. I'd say about half leave relevant comments, and the other half either don't leave any feedback or they leave the "Lovely home. Thank's for letting us view it.", remarks.

Hey, we're all in this together. If you expect feedback, leave feedback.

The administrative assistants in our office regularly set aside time each week to "track down" agents for feedback.  Sometimes we never get a response and our clients feel in the dark.  I think if I've learned one thing about this business it's the fact that you reap what you sew.  Keep doing the right thing!

Hi Kristin-I have heard there are many agents that don't do this and I think it is very important they do it. Lots of lax agents and you wonder why in this economy. Doesn't make sense. Have a wonderful Weds. <SMILE>
