This week I had two interesting, and creepy experiences relayed to me. The first started with a phone call from a short sale owner that I had helped successfully sell his home, and after find a rental. The rental house we'd found for him was really neat. He was quite taken with it. It backed to Broad Run, a small river here in Prince William County.
The tennant has only been in the house for three months. In the last two weeks he has found a total of eighty black snakes in his home. Yes, that was 80 snakes. Needless to say, when he called, he made an appointment with me to find another home. His landlords, avoiding the would-be lawsuit that the tennant threatened to file, is letting him out of his lease free and clear. It is no longer a mystery why the prior tennants fled without ever telling the landlords.
Second creepy experience was relayed to me by my husband James. He was at the airport at dusk putting air in his plane's tire. Not so easy to do since they are covered in wheel pants to make them more aerodynamic. There's a little door in the wheel pants that open just enought to get inside and unscrew the cap on the air nozzle. When he did that on the front tire, and pilot side tire, he found a family of black widow spiders. He stopped what he was doing and figured he'd wait till he could see the poisonous little devils better and continue another day.
The next day, in broad daylight, he and I went out to remove the entire wheelpants and spray for the spiders. Part of me had doubted that it was indeed a black widow he'd seen. I doubt no more. Two of the them came rolling out of the pilot side wheelpant. Talk about creepy. Never thought something as small as a nickel could look so frightening.
So there you are, a large enough dose of creepy to keep you satisfied until Halloween.
