2009 Mega Agent Program - Inspiring Words from Nick Jujicic

If you haven't seen any of the guest speakers at a Mega Agent Camp, you are really missing out.  These strong and passionate individuals will provoke thought and pull at both your heart and your mind.  After listening to these speakers, there is but one single conclusion - "The only thing holding you back is you."

Nick Jujicic - Attitude Determines Altitude

Meet Nick Jujicic

Nick Jujicic is no ordinary young man.  He was born with no hands and no legs.  Before he was born,  doctors told his parents that their baby had severe birth defects and that the pregnancy should be terminated.  They refused.  His parents were told that he should be institutionalized.  He refused.  From an early age, he and his parents challenged limiting assumptions starting with basic decisions such as attending regular schools.

Dream Big and Never Give Up

Mr. Jujicic is a truly remarkable individual and explains in simple terms how he approached his physical limitations.  He used his religious beliefs to strengthen his resolve.  His mantra is pretty simple - "Attitude Determines Altitude."  In his speech, he explained how he views obstacles as opportunities and how fear of unknown can be self-limiting.  He further explained how he came to understand that fear was really "false evidence appearing real."  Although the video was not from the Mega Agent program, elements of the story shown in the video were certainly a part of his speech and give a pretty good insight into the individual and his philosophy.

Sally - His story about overcoming obstacles started with his faith and his ability to see obstacles as opportunities.  His presentation which included some items from this clip was truly amazing.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for sharing Nick's journey. It's amazing what "strong" people can accomplish.  This reminded me of another inspirational speaker I saw and will share.

Ryan, this is a magnificent story.  I'm reminded that my own blessings certainly outweigh any obstacles that I perceive I have.  It all starts with the thoughts and beliefs we choose to entertain.

Rita:  I enjoyed Nick.  His story was the most dramatic.  However, the other speakers also had compelling stories that I will be posting later tonight.

Jenny:  Nick was definitely strong minded.  I think that all of the speakers had something simple in common.  They refused to be victims.  They took control over their own destiny.  They persevered through adversity.

Liz:  I agree.  Nick's message (which he didn't share overtly) was based on his strong religious convictions.  The book that he uses to prop himself up after he has fallen is actually the bible.  However, his presentation talked more about his personal beliefs and will power as opposed to the religious aspects of his belief system.

I'm totally connected to the disability world so I've seen and heard Nick before. Quite amazing isn't he! I've met many a "self advocate" that will blow you out of the water with their positive attitude and their will to "thrive"! Before becoming a Realtor I was a "technical assistant coordinator" for a non profit that did family support. Every year I would go to a TASH conference and be inspired by the self advocates that went and shared their stories.  TASH used to stand for The Association for the Severely Handicapped. Now it stands for TASH: Equity, Opportunity, and Inclusion for People with Disabilities. They've been around since 1975.

Thank you, Ryan, for this video. I am always looking for stories like these to share with my children so they know how blessed they are with so much others aren't. I want them to grow to be achievers and to completely erase the words "Can not" from their vocabulary.  Video is so powerful and this video in particular. Be blessed. So much gratitude for you taking the time to share this!

Best,

Elayna

Ryan - this is one of the most inspirational videos of ALL TIME!  It touches the deepest chord of the heart and spirit, and really puts things into perspective.  Every time I watch it, I am reminded that there is NO obstacle in life that can't be overcome.  Nick has and will continue to change and touch the lives of many just by sharing his own. Thanks for posting this, I gotta go grab some tissue now...  :-))

Elayna - He is a pretty amazing guy.  It sure makes you think - anything is possible if I have a good support structure and the will to do it.

Brad - Thanks for commenting.  Nick sure gave me perspective on my small problems and worries.  He was pretty clear on his message - obstacles are just opportunities.  Powerful speaker with a good message.  He is a pretty amazing individual.

Debbie - I have seen three or four variations on this message.  He only briefly mentioned his religious beliefs and then only to use them to explain the source of his strength.  Debbie, you can always re-blog my material - especially when it features an amazing guy like Nick.

Sharon - His presentation was even better in person.  It wasn't much different than the video.  However, he spoke with so much passion and energy.  Now, after seeing the video, I can't see how any problem could be too big to handle.
