Chemicals...it brings fear to a Dr.s mind. I have 2 friends that are Doctors, and both say it is the most uncertain problem they face when they encounter a patient with chemical exposure.
Spring and fall are the two most heavily used periods of the year. Most involve gardeners and those treating their lawns. Some, are just plain Stupidity and others are unfortunate accidents.
Tips when handling chemicals as stated by the Dr.s (they have asked to remain anonymous)
1. Keep children and pets away from all chemicals. Including the area sprayed or otherwise treated for a minimum time as per the directions.
2. Wear safty goggles. Yea, you may look dorky...but you will be a dork that can SEE when you are done.
3. Don't carry around open containers. nearly 40% of accidents come from drop or bumped containers.
4. Make sure the equiptment you are using is in top condition. Look for leaks and worn hoses.
5. Use in well ventilated areas. cramped quarters in a house is not good!
6. When outside...spray with any small breeze at your back. If it is windy...wait for another day!
7. THINK ABOUT USING A PROFESSIONAL!
The Dr.s say these few example will cut done chemical accidents by close to 90%. Take jsut a few wxtra seconds and make sure that you are safe.
