Drexel Heritage Fire In Morganton, NC

By
Real Estate Agent with Century21 American Homes

Suspicions arise after Drexel Heritage in Morganton, NC went up in flames early Friday morning.  Buildings #3 and #5 of the Morganton, NC  plant are still smoldering this Monday morning while investigators are trying to get in to the buildings to determine the cause of fire.

The Drexel Heritage plant in Morganton, NC holds family ties for me, my grandfather retired from there after working there for over 30 years.  My grandfather was in World War 2 and after returning married my grandmother moved to Morganton, NC went to work at the Drexel Heitage Plant.  He will soon be 90 years old and still lives in Morganton, NC  so I am sure this brings great sorrow to him to see such an Historic Structure burn to the ground. Drexel Heritage Plant is as much a part of Morganton, NC as the Deaf School, Broughton, and WNC(no longer named that).

Drexel Heritage plants #3 and #5 in Morganton, NC you will be missed!

Annette,

Sorry to hear about the lost of Dresel Heritage.  I have always loved their furniture and have been there several times to their showing room.  I'm sure they will re-build and it will be bigger and even better.
