Sometimes midwifery is how a Realtor starts her day.

I woke up around 2:00am to check on our preggo terrier.  She was OK and nothing yet, so I went to check my emails.  Just a little later I hear her panting and when I got there she had given birth to the first pup and cleaned him up already.  I was impressed!

Here's our Lola after a couple of pups.  She's up to 3 now and has been at it for a few hours.  I wish I knew how many more might be coming.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Pretty soon I will be finding homes of a different kind than I usually do: a loving home for these cuties!

I looked at the time you posted this and wondered why you were not sleeping, Maggie.

Ah so cute, you will be busy for a few days. How exciting.

Warm water and towels...isn't that what they say when a baby is coming?:)

Fernando - thanks!  She's resting now and appears to be doing well.

Dick & Dixie - well, she actually stopped at 3, thank goodness.  I was hoping I didn't have a repeat of 101 Dalmatians here!

Missy - we've been keeping a close eye on her these last few days and today just "seemed" like the day to me.  It has been exciting.  This was my first experience with this so I read up on it before and prepared myself.  I cut 2 umbilical cords!

Renee - I know she will get some shuteye soon.  I have appointments this morning which can't be rescheduled so I'll be off and running soon.

Neal - I believe you're right. =)  As luck would have it, our water pump broke last night (we're not on municipal water) so we have no running water until the repairman comes later.  We made do with the bottled water we always have on hand.

While I went to drop off Little One at school, Lola got busy and had a fourth one!

I left my mother watching them but I'm not totally sure what she was watching.  I pointed the 4th one out to her and she was shocked.  LOL  Thank goodness these critters know exactly what to do.

Congratulations, Auntie. You must be so proud. Hope Mom is doing well. It's been years since we dealt with puppies and kittens. A REALTOR'S job is never done.

Maggie, What a fantastic shot!  I'm impressed with Lola AND you...that's hard work.  I'm glad to hear you're both ok and I'm sure Lola is now the proud mom.

Hi Maggie

It's a great photo of the new mom and her pub.

Good luck and success.

Gary, it really was a special treat =)

Jeff, it amazes me that they know just what to do.  Two years ago it was our Cat and we left her alone to do her thing.  She hid in the garage and took care of business.

Carole, thanks. =)  Lola has proven herself to be more mature than any of us gave her credit for.  She's always been a hyper dog but she's settled down and taken to her new role so well. =)

Lou, thank you.  The babies looked yellow there.  They were barely a couple of hours and still needed more grooming.  Now that they are a whole day old I will need to take new pictures. She's cleaned them up quite nicely!

Joan, thanks!  They're even cuter now.  She lets me pick them up without a problem too.  I help her arrange the bed and put them back in place.  I was scared at first that she may not want me to but I guess all the help I've given her makes her realize I can be trusted.  We're thrilled!

Renee, you're absolutely right.  I've been swamped.  Blew a tire out while on the road this morning and ended up having to reschedule my whole day.  =(  My kid put pictures up on Facebook.  I'll have to go lift some and post here.  Thanks for asking!

Maggie,

Oh my, I guess I missed this one. What a look on Lola's face, she looks so vulnerable and sweet.

Patricia, I've been such a bad mommy not posting new pictures.  My daughters have tons of them taken and I will have to make some time and find them so I can post them.  They are extremely cute now!

Lynda!  Hi =)  Funny, how ugly that puppy looks now.  LOL  They are so big and fattened up now.  We only have 1 left.  She has a new home actually, but her new mommy is having surgery so we promised to puppysit until she's well enough to take her home.  In the meantime we are falling more in love with her each day and will miss her terribly when she goes.

Lola had no trouble at all letting go of the puppies.  I found that interesting.
