Agreement 2 - Health Care Control

By

OK, time to post another area where I think, despite screaming matches to the contrary, there really is widespread agreement.  This one is also about Health Care... specifically, whether or not the Government should be controlling our healthcare.  (I believe the real disagreement comes in when the discussion turns to whether any healthcare decisions should be controlled by our government, and how many of those decisions should be left entirely up to the individual and/or his/her Healthcare Provider.  But let's leave that discussion for another thread.  One where we're not as interested in finding points of agreement.  Feel free to start just such a thread if you feel you must comment about that and want to start that discussion.)

Do you agree with the following statement?

Our Government should not be controlling all healthcare decisions.

The options for responding:

I agree - Our Government should not be controlling all healthcare decisions.

I disagree - Our Government should be controlling all healthcare decisions.

Given the absolute statements from which to choose, I choose, "I Agree".  However, as a qualifier, I also believe that no insurance adjuster should control all health care decisions for me.

And weren't you in Orlando?  When did you move?

Tchaka - Is there any definition by which you believe our Government should be controlling all health care decisions?

And, yes, we used to live in Orlando.  Thanks to Lisa Spalding we were able to sell our home last September in an amazingly short time (2 months) and for the highest price/sqft ($134) of any comparable home in that area.  (As of last week, it's still the highest in the area.  The next closest were a home that sold in January - for $113/sqft - that was 15 years newer, and a home that sold in July - for $111/sqft - that had been built in 2007 and was on the market since then.  Ours, for reference sake, was built in '83.)

David - I'm just curious how broad your umbrella is.

Congrats on the move and on the fast (and high) sale!!!  Mountain View must be a whole lot different from Orlando!  You're in land of serious technology now.

Tchaka - I think it's pretty self-explanatory and clear as it stands.  From your hesitancy to agree, I'm guessing that you have in mind some reasonable interpretation of the statement under which you would would say you disagree - Our Government should be controlling all healthcare decisions.  If that's so, no problem.  I'm just curious what that interpretation would be.

My goal is to find points of agreement, and thereby dispell at least some of the hyperbole that those on opposing sides throw at each other.  In this case, I'm guessing that, despite screams from those on the Right, those who favor the current Democrat proposals for Health Care Reform, are not, in fact, generally in favor of having the Government control all health care decisions.

Thanks for the congrats.  Yes, Mtn. View is a whole lot different, and it's not just the technology.

I'd also note, we're back in the land of bleeding-edge technology now.  We moved from this area to Orlando back in '97 so I could pursue another degree.  Up until then, my wife had never lived outside CA, and aside from a few years in S. CA for college, she'd never lived anywhere but Silicon Valley.
