Henderson is one of Money Magazine's "Top 20 Best Cities to Live in America" for 2006, and is nationally recognized for its outstanding parks and recreation system.   • Incorporated:  April 16, 1953
  • City Slogan:  "A Place to Call Home"
  • Total square miles:  98 (comparable to Arlington, TX; Knoxville, TN; and Tallahassee, FL)
  • Henderson was named after Nevada Assemblyman, University Regent and U.S. Senator (from 1918-1921) Charles B. Henderson.

  • Golf courses:  1 Municipal, 9 Public, and 2 Private
  • City parks:  43, totaling more than 1,200 acres
  • Recreation centers:  6

  • Public schools:  30 Elementary, 9 Junior High, and 9 High Schools
  • Public libraries:  5
  • Museums and cultural facilities:  3 (Clark County Heritage Museum, Henderson Pavilion at Liberty Pointe, Henderson Events Plaza)

  • Henderson's master planned communities are models for the southwest. Developers fund infrastructure costs through Limited Improvement Districts (LIDs). They also contribute land for schools, parks and fire stations. The costs for this are included in the sale price of the home.

I saw a tv show the other day about Henderson, NV and how quickly it was growing. It looks like a beautiful area.
