ART in the Park by Feng Shui New York Consultant

I loved this photo...there was no sign with it so it gave no Artists name or any indication of what it meant to the Artist.

It was also set back so if you hadn't been looking around, you likely would have passed it by.  This photo was taken about 25 miles North of Paris, France while climbing up to the site of Vincent Van Gogh's gravesite near the cornfields he used to paint.

His most famous pieces will all soon be placed in the Museum they are building next to the tiny room he occupied during his final days.  His work continues to facinate me and the many others who loved his brilliant use of color and a unique talent that was never duplicated.

Carole,

Very intriguing sculpture...reminds me of the novel 'Gormenghast' which was filled with a cast of eccentric and severely strange characters.

Very interesting scuptures.  Maybe it's better that there was no sign with it. It's open to so much interpretation that way, let each person read what they will into it.

I'm planning a trip to Paris next year, will put this on the agenda.

Carole - It reminds me of walking through Walmart and encountering the cross section of society that shops there:-)

Hi Carole, Wow, these are interesting.  I would really love to see these up close to get a better look at the faces and feel for what the artist was trying to represent. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like these.

Van Gogh has always been a favorite of mine.

Last time I was in NYC, I made sure to see his works at the MOMA.

This one was of particular interest to me....

Vincent Van....Craig?!!

Why does it not surprise me that you are a fan of Van Gogh?  :)  His talents ... very misunderstood, and poorly celebrated.  The man was tortured genius.

Oh my goodness - those are incredibly quirky.  That's the best word I can think of!  That is an absolute wonderful site to tumble upon in France.

I think each piece has a significance all it's own, looking at the posture and modesty or lack thereof in each character is very "enlightening"!

Teri, It was set off the road, I almost missed it but found it intriguing as well....they do look tortured.

Cynthia, I have always been facinated with this genius and sorry his life was in such turmoil.  It was one of the things I HAD to visit in France.

Martha, I wished there was something with them but couldn't find anything.  It does make you wonder.

Yvette and Dennis, They are quite a work of art and look very old to me.  I'm sorry I couldn't find out more.

Jo, I didn't read it but I was intrigued with this and still am....I wish I knew more about it.

Linda, It's a far ride and you have to go on a weekend...I went during the week and ended up in a little province only to find the next train didn't come for four HOURS at which time the exhibit would have been closed.  Cabs do not come there but after much pleading from the trainmaster, someone came and drove us the rest of the way.

Myrl, That's adorable especially since I have a tendency to "people watch."

Sandy, They are different, that's for sure.  I wish I knew what the artist intended.

Craig, Thanks for posting that, I have Starry Night from Moma somewhere in my pictures.  I am sorry that's no longer going to be there, it is my favorite painting and I'd spend a good hour in front of it.

Carol, That's exactly what he was...and I'm so sorry his work wasn't recognized while he was alive.  Some believe he had tinnitus which can make you crazy and may have caused him to slash his ear....but we'll never know.

Caron, Goodness, I hope people aren't THAT unhappy in a nursing home!  The thought scares me...

Leesa, I didn't expect to see anything like this....I did go to see when Van Gogh last lived, the Church that he painted and where he was buried.  It was further outside of Paris then I had expected but worth it.

Hannah, So am I, probably more so than any other artist.  I think his artwork captured more shades of colors then I've ever seen.

Sharon, I hope to go back some day and see the museum when it's done.  And see these scupltures once again.

Cheryl, I found it amazing and still am not sure what to make of it.  The last one does look like a tortured soul and that does make me re-evaluate the others.

What a great group of characters - and so modest.  I love it.  :)
I love Van Gogh.  I have a few of 'his pieces' (badly reproduced, but I love them just the same).

The next time I'm in Paris, and there will be a next time, I won't miss this.

Carole, You must travel with a very observant eye to nice such fascinating things hidden back from the street.  They are very interesting and the photo is wonderful.  How long were you in Paris?

Carole -- they look like characters from a Tim Burton movie, but, insert them in Starry Starry Night and they might fit right in.

Beautiful art.... somehow though, (without attempting to degrade, discredit, or use excessive humour) in looking at it, makes me want to place some bras on all of 'em.  Good find - look at all the varied comments.  Thank you!
