I am a motivational anything junkie.  I love to read magazines, books, listen to speakers, etc. I must admit that a good motivational quote can change my whole attitude in 5.2 seconds. I feel very lucky to have this skill. Some people are just miserable. No matter what you say, they will have an argument why that can't work for them. I'm sure others besides me have been unlucky enough to work with some of those people. For every idea you have, there's those that need to roll their eyes.

I tend to be a glass half full kind of girl. I have been told there is something about my personality that makes people like being around me. That, in itself, makes me happy. I'm sure I get on miserable people's nerves. I do get mad, sad, agitated, etc., like everyone else. I just have the ability to get myself out of it quickly. You know the type of person you are. If you like people, like social situations, generally love new things, you'll be great at sales. If you avoid strangers, don't know what to say to people, and are generally scared in new situations, give it up.

Enthusiasm is the MOST important thing in sales. Honestly, anybody can learn about the products you have available. It's a matter of studying and memorizing. You need to be able to transfer your enthusiasm to other people. Invest in yourself, read inspirational books. Talk to other people in your profession. HAVE CONFIDENCE!! People subconsciously size you up. If you don't have an air of total confidence, how can you expect them to put their confidence in you? Always make sure you know what you are talking about.

My personal key to keeping myself positive is very simple. This applies to work, overdue bills, sickness, anything. Think about the people that have it worse than you. Think about all you have to be thankful for. That should be enough.

Thanks for the motivational post Amanda!  I'm a glass half full person also, I think.  But I always look at the negative side of things.  I think we have to consider both the negative and the positive side of things when making decisions.  But in order to stay up beat we HAVE to think positive.

I agree Mary. The key is to always lean towards the positive. For instance, my husband is a Union Pipefitter. He usually works an average of 9 months a year. When he gets laid off, my first thought is, "Thank GOD, he can help me with these kids!"  That would be the positive. My second thought is, "Crap, money is gonna be tight for a while." See how I look at the benefit to ME first! LOL!

I'm a glass is 3/4 full type of guy.  I think that its imperative for people like you and I to surround ourselves with people of the same mindset.  Eagles soar with Eagles and ducks quack with ducks.

I think we, as Realtors, or as professionals in Real Estate "need" to be positive with a glass half-full attitude. Else we would not stay in this profession!!! Good post Amanda..........

Thanks Larry and Teri. I definitely agree that we have to stick together. Those miserable people think we are weird anyway!:)
