ActiveRain - Where Do You Rank Amongst Your Peers?

Have you ever wondered how you rank amongst your peers here in the Rain?

Sure you can log on to your home page and see your town, county and state statistics.

But how do you rank among the (currently) 157,846 members of the ActiveRain community?

This tutorial will show you how. It’s so simple, even your technology challenged grandmother will be able to follow along! Please save your applause until the end!

First, you need to log in to ActiveRain. Hey, I said this was going to be so simple even your grandmother could do it!

Next, click on the ActiveRain logo at the top left of the page.

Home Page

After you’ve clicked on the ActiveRain logo, click on the link on the right side of the page labeled “Featured Members”.

Featured members link page

The page that opens, for the sake of this blog, we’ll call it the “Profiles” page.

You can call it Fred or Wilbur, or whatever you like. But I’m calling it the “Profiles” page.

Whatever you call it, it looks like this:

Choose your field

On this page, if you want to find yourself, you need to click on the field you chose when you activated your ActiveRain account. If you’re completely lost and want to find yourself, please contact your local clergyman.

The next page that opens shows the rankings of your peers.

Rankings

Now, if you know your points total, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click next until you find yourself. The number above your profile picture is your ranking!

Me!

See how easy that was? Now even you, and your technologically challenged grandmother, can find out how you rank amongst your peers here in the Rain!

I didn't think of doing that, but I do check the State, County once in a while.

Hi Craig - It's too bad that the link for 'All' doesn't work any more. That gave an overall view of the Rain.

Craig, you bring up a good point that has been bugging me for months. We used to be able to see each others "complete" home page point summary like you show in your first picture. Why did AR take that away? Now that REALLY fueled the competitive juices:) Think I will go try out my new jamies now!

Thanks for the tutorial on this process. I probably don't want to know where I rank although I have improved my rank in Virginia from 154th to 107th in about 6 weeks. I would probably be ranked higher except for the fact that I was out of town for 9 days and away from my computer!

I figured it out, I'm number 1356 ;-( Gotta work at it.

But you can't see where you rank out of "all" 157+ thousand members. You can only see where you rank for your category...i.s.real estate agent, brokerages, etc. That said, I can't complain about being #342...

Interesting, but I don't see the point in checking this very often. I am not in competition with all my friends from AR across the country! What matters to me is that I am #1 in my county, #1 in my city and 5th in my state! What else matters to me is that I am on the first page of Google for my area! Wahoo I say! Thank you AR!

And I was feeling pretty good about where I was in my state and county. :-( Oh well. I'll keep working on it!

This was interesting - thought I was the only one who checked this. My sister & I compete with one another for how many points we have. I'm finally catching up with her & want to be number one in my county...

Wellllllll, I started out being depressed until I figured out I could pick random page numbers in the http: bar. Here are a few fun stats:

As of 04SEP09:
There are 1738 pages of 50 agents per page
On page 1124 the most recent person to break 1000 points appears
On page 157 the most recent person to break 10,000 points appears
On page 19 the most recent person to break 100,000 points appears

I appear on pg 53 and come in at #1324 - Got a way to go but I'm in the top 20%!
Not too bad for 8 months work! I'm 3rd in my town so I think I'll go with that!

Hi Craig - That was fun. Following your directions, I found me at #532. Doesn't sound too good, but I guess it's not too bad considering there are 43,475 real estate agents on AR and 157,994 total members. I'm moving up though, which I do notice now and then when checking on my state and county, and I've been #1 in my town for some time. Moving up is important too, because the higher I've moved, the more clients I've had call me.

I had not looked that way before. Just by state search. Thanks for the tip.

Well, thanks, Craig - I am 357 which is a very lucky combination of numbers.

The bad news is if I try to improve my point score, that would shoot me from page 14 to page 13. 13 is not a lucky number, is it? Isn't that why hotels never have a 13th floor? Or is that a Bugsy Siegal thing and limited to his luck issues? I don't think I could accumulate enough points quickly enough to skip page 13, do you? I notice that you have quite a few more points than me - could you loan me 7,000 points for about 2 weeks, while I organically earn enough points to get past page 13 on my own?

Maybe to stay safe, I should not get any more points at all and just stay off that page 13 completely. Yes, that is the solution.

I have always looked at where I rank in Florida, the state I do business in. I never really thought to see where I ranked in the AR network as a whole. I am right around #13 for my state...I WAS in the top ten for quite a while...but I have not been as consistent in posting as i was before...my fault!!

#54 is not too bad out of those approximately 43,000 real estate agents in the network, hmm?

I am right behind the next person up from me...I feel very competitive right now suddenly....muahahahaha...

Craig,....nice illustration, but points to me don't tell me how I rank amongst my peers her on AR. There are a few ahead of me that just blogged 10 a week or more and didn't offer as much. Some actually spent more time on here than having a full time job. Not trying to rain on your parade, but I just don't feel that points truly rank you here. They can be a huge indication, but for everyone. Just my opinion.

The photo tools I use are many depending on what I'm trying to do.

I use Photoshop to "enhance" images. You can see some examples on almost all of my blogs.It's a passion of mine. Photoshop fun

I use Publisher for things like this blog.

And I use Fireshot to capture and edit what's on my screen.

Craig, do you know anyways to look at the rankings of just the county, and city so you can see hoe many points you need to move up? Thanks

Wendy - Sometimes, and I know there is a glitch here, when you click on your home page, it will tell you where you rank in your city, county and state. Just refresh the page a few times and you should see it.

Or, you can go to your profile page and at the top there are links to your State, County and City. You'd have to click the drop down box to highlight Real Estate Agents under State and County. But under city, you'll appear without having to do that.

Hi Craig - I am really glad you posted this. I know I am the top featured member for my town, and am one of the top 10 for the state, but I was curious globally if I even ranked. I just followed your super easy to understand instructions and lo and behold - I am not in the top 100, and I am not even in the top 200, nd sadly, I just missed being in the top 300, BUT...

As I continued to scroll through the ranks, I FOUND MYSELF at #304! What an ego boost. Now to get some more blog subscribers!

Would love to find out since you are in North Carolina if you are using Electronic Signing since they teach it in the colleges and also do enotarization etc.

My newest agents just got a free 30 day trial and afterwards they just pay 28.99 per month you can also read my activerain info on electronic signing I have blogged on it several times. Plus did you know Wells Fargo just put out a press release on esigning this past Monday, officially accepting it? Exciting times.....
