West meets East....... a face to face with Jonathan Vetter, loan officer.

Batter, batter, batter, swing batter..... For anyone that doesn't know Jonathan Vetter, he is a true baseball fan. Besides football, baseball is his favorite and he has played it for half of his life. I can't remember all of the baseball players that went to his High School or that lived in his area, but one of them was Greg Jefferies. There were a few more.

Anyhow, I actually had the pleasure of meeting Jon this past Sunday at PJ Whelihan's in Maple Shade, New Jersey. We met for a few beers and talked about all kinds of things for about 2 hours. He is in town for 2 weeks because his wife grew up in this area and they were in town for a wedding and his wife for a baby shower. Jon did have the pleasure of helping set up for the baby shower. He seemed so thrilled..... lol

Interesting fact : Jon met his wife when she was visiting out West. They hit it off and made plans to get together again. They got engaged in less than a year and have been married for 3 years. They have a 1 1/2 year old daughter named Ramie. Another interesting story, because it is taken from his wife's name Jaimie. (there is more to it, but I can't remember all of it)

Jonathan had been in real estate for about 5 years before getting into the lending business. He has been on the lending side of things for the last 3 years and just loves what he does. Gee, another one that loves what he does. Awesome....

We went on to talk about sports (football & baseball), Active Rain, golf, and just life in general. And I have to say, Jon was very easy to talk to, which I can see why he is very successful in what he does. I might even try to meet him and his wife in Philly before he leaves. That would be a fun send off.

Are you folks getting a get together planned as well? Sure would be nice to have one here although I think only a few of us are really active here...

Jeff, my daughter is living in your area this summer and will probably move up there permanently. When she does, I'll be up there to visit and look forward to meeting you and Rich Schiffer.

Monika..... same here and just hearing other people and how their meeting went. Knowing that two people got together from two opposite sides of the states and that AR had something to do with that. Thanks for stopping by.

Sally..... where? In Hawaii? lol Hawaii would be great, but only when I am taking a vacation to see your beautiful islands. I will let you know when this happens.

Another great post Jeff, thank you. Glad to read about another baseball fan. Just tonight, Mariners vs. Chicago Cubs were tied until the 13th inning to win 5 to 3!

You're setting a great example by encouraging us to connect with others here. I have made it a goal to meet people also.

Jeff - nice post I love reading about meetings of Active Rain folks

Jeff, earliest would be sometime next year but don't worry, I'll let you and Rich know before I go. It would be fun to meet for Philly Cheesesteaks and a cold b_ _r or 2. I lived up there once and I love Philly Cheesesteaks.

Meeting up with fellow Active Rain members is part of what this forum is about. I met a few members while in Las Vegas and am looking forward to meeting more.

Jeff I enjoyed reading this and even went an dread the other two meetings you had with Ravi and Rob.

Cool stuff Jeff. I haven't heard Greg Jefferies name for awhile. I remember though hearing stories of him training by swinging a baseball bat in a pool. I've only met a few members outside the confines of this forum, I hope that changes sooner rather than later.

Jeff, you are a shinning example of an activerain member going the extra mile,to meet people here.

Jeff you are such a people person. This quality is really helpful in your line of business, and I am sure your meeting with Jonathan was fun you both shared the the same passion.

Melissa.... so, you like baseball. How are the Mariner's doing? My Phillies are bouncing back slowly. And the Redsox are going to be a tough team to beat.

Randy...... I am sure it is. And sometimes you just have to put yourself out there to make it happen. Jonathan made a comment in one of my posts that he was going to be in the area. Then just making the effort to make it happen was the next step. Thanks for stopping by.

Jason..... yes, I hadn't heard his name in a while until Jon brought his name up. Again, I can't remember exactly, because of all that we talked about, but I think Greg was a little more involved in Jon's HS or something else. And he did name like 3 others. I am just a little foggy on that.

Jennifer..... thanks and I guess being a people gets me in trouble sometimes... lol Nah... And yes, it is very helpful to be a people person in this line of business. We did have a great time. I guess it helps when the other person is just the same as yourself. Just as in my previous 2 meetings with Rob & Ravi. Thanks for the compliments.

Jeff, my daughter is living up there this summer, once her boyfriend leaves for Iraq(in August) she'll come back home. When he comes back from Iraq, (sometime early next year) she'll probably move back up there (they're talking about getting married) then I will go up there as often as I can. :)

Greg Jefferies! I used to have his baseball card! Actually, it's probably still in it's sleeve in my basement! Very cool you got to meet another member!

Jeff-Greg Jeffries.....was it Philadelphia or Pittsburgh that he played for? I might be wrong on both but those were the first two teams that came to mind. He sounds like a good guy if he talks baseball and golf. As long as he is a White Sox fan and he plays golf left handed, he is tops in my book!

David.... aka Top.... Greg Jefferies played in Philly for a little. Funny about the White Sox and playing golf left-handed. Hey... I just thought about that. Jeff Jeff Jeff...So I haven't been on Active Rain in about 3 days, and just noticed that you had post this. Thank you so much for the highlight! I will get to my post one these days. It is tough to balance vacation, actual work, and then fun work (AR).

It was great meeting with you Jeff, thanks again for making the trip across town to meet me. I had a blast, and learned a little too.

For the record, Gregg Jefferies did play in Philly for a while, I believe when he was doing well. Back in the day, his rookie card was about $1, I have no idea what they would be worth now.

Again, Jeff, thanks for the visit, and to anyone that reads this, if you are in the San Francisco Bay, and need a tour guide or friend to meet with, I am always open to it!

Jeff-Golf courses galore in Hawaii! The city I live in, Ewa Beach, has 6 as of right now. There is a brand new championship course designed by Ernie Els that should open in 2009 and will play to 7,500 yards from the tips. Three of the courses are within 5 blocks of my house so I am in golf heaven here! As far as the sports.....well you are right. Nothing here except the Pro-Bowl every year which I think might be ending. At least we have U of H sports to take the edge off. Even a triple A baseball team would be nice here. Aloha and hit em straight.
