Nothing annoys me more (that may be an exaggeration) than an agent who has their cell phone plastered all over the universe and then becomes annoyed when you call them at an inconvenient time.
This past Saturday I was preparing for a client who would be in town on Sunday. As is my practice I called the listing agents to learn the status of his/her listing.
Unbelievable Call #1
Agent answered the cell phone and says, "I can't talk - I'm at my niece's wedding" and abruptly hung up.
The remainder of my calls went just fine until the last one late in the afternoon about 5:00 PM
Unbelievable Call #2
Agent answered the phone and said, "We are with out-of-town-friends. Call my home, leave a voice mail message and I'll call you tomorrow." and hung up. I wonder if these two agents are related to each other
Folks, I'm just a farmer's daughter who earned her degree at a small girl's college in Oklahoma, but even I know
- Cell phones have an off button going way back to the time when I had a Motorola brick
- If you don't want calls 24/7 don't plaster the number all over the world
-
It's downright discourteous to answer the phone at your niece's wedding
BTW - that small girl's college may not have been Ivy League, but the campus was close to the main gate of Fort Sill - the cultural exchange opportunities were excellent. :)

Alan The problem is you are suggesting common sense :) Karen
Michelle Your guess is as good as mine Karen
Mike If it was my wedding I'd request a new aunt Karen
Great point because there is a local agent that says he always is kind...I call and he says he is busy and can't chat. BTW - your picture is so cute! :)
Jason You have to wonder if some of them have the brains to get out of their own way Karen
Naoma Go figure and I have a great photographer :) Karen
Karen - I think half the world has grown up without manners. I don't know why it keeps surprising me when people do something like that but it does.
Pam Actually I think it's way more than half Karen
You nailed this and it's amazing that people can be so, so...lacking in manners or common sense! Great post!
BTW your last line about the cultural opportunities available at Fort Sill cracked me UP!
LoL - these are pretty funny Karen. I guess I don't see why you would want a cell phone if you were going to treat people in this fashion.
Russell I felt socializing with men stationed at Fort Sill was my patriotic duty :) Karen
Bill The world is full of them - we just run into all of them Karen
I agree to all three of your KNOWLEDGE BASED observations....a man would answer at his niece's wedding - I doubt a woman would.
I'm turning off my phone NOW * I am eating lunch!!
Too funny, and would be funnier if it wasn't so true... and sad. I remember those Motorola brick cell phones. That was back when I was working as a consultant in the cell phone industry building out cell sites so the stupid things would work. You can partially blame cell phones on me.
Ray OK I will :) Karen
Jeff It's a "go figger" situation :) Karen
Hi Karen,
I don't get it either why they would have even answered the phone. I'm so tired of seeing agents actually answer them and start talking as they head for the door at seminars when the keynote speaker is talking. How rude.
Me again,
I also meant to mention that when I first saw the title of your post I thought it was going to be about the person speaking loud on the cell phone.
Don't you notice how many people don't realize how loud they are speaking? I think they forget that the reception on cellphones is much better these days lol.
Maybe Susan should write that cellphone etiquette book she mentioned above.
Jenny I agree with both of your comments Karen
Karen I am aware your reports on Woodbridge are an integral part of your market strategy to be current on many facts throughout Prince William County. The obvious goal is to provide your clients with the very best possible representation and blog posting is an excellent method and may include posts about other interesting locations or subjects in our area
