Tapestry

All proceeds fund arts education programs in schools and arts outreach to the community

This year also celebrates the 18th year of the Design for Living Home & Garden Show. This indoor event is a great place to get connected with home improvement, interior design, landscape talent, and so much more!

I recommend taking the Light Rail. You’ll want to exit at the Convention Center or San Antonio Station.

It appears we may get relief from the heat this Labor Day weekend as well. The weather is expected to be a cool and comfortable 79 to 81 degrees.

Sun Shinning on Labor Day in San Jose CA

For many Americans Labor Day signifies a paid holiday and three-day weekend. The first United States Labor Day celebration took place in New York City on September 5, 1882. Legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was pushed through Congress by President Grover Cleveland following the aftermath of the deaths of a many workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshals during the Pullman Strike in 1894. The law went into effect six days after the end of the strike.

Kathleen

Hope you had a good time. I do love these local celebrations. In spite of how small Alameda is, we have our share. The Peanut Butter and Jam Festival is tihs weekend. Although not as big as Park Street's Arts and Wine Faire, it is still a lot of fun.

By the way, most Alamedans are not too keen on temperatures above 80 degrees, since our climate is so temperate, even in summer, that we always enjoy high 60s and low 70s....but anything above 80 is a scorcher! Ha, ha, ha!
