We live on property that has many many oak trees, they are beautiful, wonderful shade providers, squirrel provides, cardinal refuges, many things to us. Austin is proud of its live oaks and pin oaks and spanish oaks.  We love each and every one of them, so this week we did something that has made a huge improvement around here.  The trees got a haircut. a tree trimming.

Since the proof is in the pudding and a picture is worth a thousand words, who wants to read all those words, here are the before and afters.  Thanks to Aspen Tree Service of Austin, 512-552-5966. More to come later about that awesome company. Can you believe its the same place?  before and after.

I don't think a lot of people realize that their house looks bigger and brighter when they keep trees and bushes trimmed back.

I agree, although trees offer alot of positives, eventually they get large enough to start causing problems especially when growing next to or near a home.  We have alot of Leyland Cypres trees in our yard.  I just spent $600 to have a couple taken down because the squirrels were climbing up and getting on the house.  I know the result of squirrel damage and the cost of removing them from the interior of a house after they take up residence.

Dan, amazing isn't it.

Barbara, great point about those pesky squirrels. I wish it has only cost $600, thank goodness its not a yearly expense.

Martha, who knew?  Yes this is a CapeCod style, very unusual in central Texas. I knew we thought alike sometimes, must run deeper than I thought. :)

We had a listing a couple of years ago that had expired.  The beautiful large trees in the front yard totally obscurred the house from view.  We had the owner limb them up, we were able to get a good picture for MLS & advertising, and the house sold in a short time.

Gail ~ I am a big proponent of cutting and trimming bushes and trees to open a property to give it more curb appeal and more dimension!

Trimming trees can make a HUGE difference, I agree. We have a house just down the street that needs to hear this lesson.

Maintaining your trees will definitely enhance the looks of your property. I've seen some folks purchase property because the property nice trees and landscaping. I've seen some folks not buy property because of oak wilt. Keep your trees trimmed and cared for and that can be the deciding factor. C&C
