CHAPIN CHAMBER AWARDS GALA
     Ready to get involved? We're seeking volunteers to serve on our Gala Committee.  We have a great group of people, but need a few more. 
     The Chamber Awards Gala & Auction will be held this year on November 20th at Columbia Conference Center, and will be a great event! Please call or email Laura if you can help out.

CHAPIN SERTOMA CLUB HOLDING ANNUAL OYSTER ROAST FUNDRAISER
Monday, October 12th
, Reunion Park in Little Mountain
from 7:00-9:00 pm.
    
Tickets are $25 per person and include oysters and catfish stew. Tea will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring the beverage of their choice.  Tickets will be on sale for a shotgun raffle too.

PALMETTO ARTIST SERIES TO BEGIN THIS SEPTEMBER IN IRMO
     The Palmetto Artist Series will return to Irmo with six performances in 2009 and 2010. “Our goal is to offer high-caliber presenters without it costing a fortune for the average family,” said Marc Rattray, St. Andrews Presbyterian’s Director of Worship and Arts.
     Saturday, Sept. 12 - Raleigh Ringers, an internationally-acclaimed handbell choir, showcase their unique interpretations of sacred, secular, and popular music. 7:30 P.M.
     November 21,  7:30 pm -      Keith and Kristyn Getty.  Known for their modern hymns such as In Christ Alone and The Power of the Cross, the duo and their band will play a rare local concert.
     December 12 and 13, 6 pm - ‘The Many Moods of Christmas” 
     February 5, 2010, 7:30 pm. - The Keyboards of Praise Piano Duo Sharon Hudson Rattray and Allison Hudson Hilbish, joined by Matthew Jones for an evening of classics and beloved hymns.
     March 12, 7:30 pm - Christian comedian Charles Marshall is both family-friendly and funny. 
     April 24, 7:30 pm - The King’s Brass. Three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, keyboards, and percussion combine to create an innovative performance.
     All performances take place at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, S.C. AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW

     Columbia Kennel Club is hosting the American Kennel Club Dog Show in Aiken, April 24 and 25, 2010. We are looking for Trophy Sponsors.  Donations will go towards Best In Show Trophy both days and the Group 1 Winners which determines the Best in Show.  Sponsors listed in AKC Premium List for Dog Show that goes out to thousands of people across the US.

     Level 1 ____ $50.00      Level 2 ____ $100.00 - posted on www.columbiakennelclub.org.

     Level 3 ____ $200.00 – your business will be posted on www.columbiakennelclub.org and a banner will be hung at dog show advertising your business as a sponsor.

     Last April there were over 300 dogs entered and 89 puppies entered.

LAKE MURRAY ASSOCIATION PUBLIC MEETINGS
     The Lake Murray Association is holding two public meetings open to the public and will be held Sept. 22 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, St. Andrews Road; and Nov. 17 at Macedonia Lutheran Church in Prosperity.
     Rebecca Spratlin of DHEC will talk about ways to help prevent pollutants and runoffs in the lake.  Bill Argentieri, of SCE&G, will talk about the re-licensing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

September 15 - ”FOUNDATIONS OF INVESTING” SEMINAR

     Harry E. Cromer III, an Edward Jones financial advisor in Chapin, is hosting a free 60-minute educational seminar titled "Foundations of Investing" seminar at 6PM September 15th.
     Fear of the unknown sometimes prevents people from investing in the future. Developing an understanding of the basics simplifies the process of getting started in an investment program. This seminar addresses needs of new investors as well as those needing a refresher.
    During the seminar, participants will learn more about:
• The key features of bonds, stocks and mutual funds
• The importance of asset allocation
• The impact of inflation on your long-term goals.
