I am very pleased to announce my latest endeavor! Home Staging Training by Design with Allegra Dioguardi.

After 3 and half years of fielding requests from prospective Stagers asking me to recommend a Home Staging training program, I’ve decided to offer training myself. I have 27 years of experience designing homes to sell and 20 of those years I spent also teaching model home merchandisers. After years of trial and error, I devised a “system” to teach the principles of designing to sell that works!

I am aware of all of the unscrupulous training programs out there that make empty promises and I believe there is a need for good training, on a more personal level, taught by an honest professional who knows how to stage a house. Now, I can feel comfortable recommending a training program!”

All of my Active Rain friends know how I love staging and I have no intention of stopping my staging but you probably also know how much I love teaching as well. With the bar being raised in our industry and Home Staging becoming more and more important and competitive I want to get more involved in helping both aspiring and seasoned professionals to enhance their design vocabulary and knowledge so they can create even more beautiful interiors that sell more homes more quickly.

I invite all of my Active Rain Fellow professionals to visit my brand new Staging Training by Design website and offer any critique or feedback.

(Just check it out....)

Perhaps you or someone you know might benefit from it. Pass it on! Thanks!

Best,

Allegra

Allegra - Congratulations on your new business venture!  Your students are not only going to benefit from your years of experience in staging model homes but in your passion and enthusiasm for staging/decorating.  Having worked with you a few times I know first hand of the value of the information your students will be receiving by working with someone with the background and experience you are bringing to the table.  For those wanting to stage professionally you will give them the "who, what, when, where and why".

Thank you Sharon, I appreciate your encouragement! That's what I love about Active Rain.

I sometimes feel like I'm the original stager, as you know I've been merchandising homes to sell for over 25 years and I've been supporting my son and I with my own business for almost 4 years. I have something to share and this seemed like a good venue. I'm  still out there in the field everyday because I love it.

It may seem corny but I have a prayer I say and part of it goes like this: "please help me to use my skills and knowledge to be of service in the world...."

Allegra, congrats on your new business venture, I wish you much success.  I am a huge believer that a training program should provide some strong business practices (strong marketing, how to conduct profitable consultations etc.?)...is this something you offer in your course?  This is something very few actually do, but is absolutely necessary when you see so many stagers come and go.. My belief is they probably have talent, but no knowledge of the business behind staging and have thus not seen the light aka. the profit. many of us can stage a home, not all of us can realize a serious profit from it.

Again - congrats!

Allegra -- it's true that some stagers are great at the "creative artistic" side of staging but fall flat when it comes to the business of staging ... and some are great business entrepreneurs but hopelessly lost when it comes to staging!  I'm sure you can get all types straightened out in your course!

Lori- That means a lot to me, thank you! I have three participants signed up already and two definite/maybes! So I guess the proof will be in the pudding!

Lisa- Thank you for the good wishes. I'm glad you asked that question! The course is only 18 hours long. I've been in this business for 26 years. So although I say on my website " I am happy to share everything I know about the business aspects, and that alone will save you a huge amount of time"  obviously what I will teach in the class will be the distilled essence of what I know about the business aspects and will point people in the right direction and will save them time. What they do from there is up to them, their drive and intelligence. However, I don't entirely agree with you  regarding the design/staging/talent part. While I do see some great staging out there, I also read blogs and posts that wonderful intelligent business women write all of the time. I think to myself "wow! They get it! They understand staging" and then I look at their websites and I can't tell the befores from the afters. There are scale issues, function issues, space planning problems, focal points are confusing and accessorizing is too light or too heavy or the emphasis is wrong.  This is not said judgmentally. but I shake my head and I think...why? I want to call them on the phone and say "Please let me help you?". This stuff IS teachable. My hope is that some of these savvy, intelligent stagers will want to become better at the design aspects of staging and will permit me to help them as well. If Home Staging follows the same model that Model Home design did (and I believe it will, what is happening in the industry right now feels like de ja vu to me) the bar will be raised and the business will become more competitive and only the best at their craft will be successful.

Maureen- Thank you! My point exactly. My program will cover both aspects and what is different about my program is that I will also teach the design aspects. Your support means a lot to me!

Good luck with your new endeavour, I have spoken with a number of new stagers who have found that many "training" courses do not meet their expectations. I am glad to hear that yours will certainly exceed all expectations. Good Luck!
