Karen,
It sounds like you did your homework and I wish you success! In the Maryland area, there are many homestagers and the good ones survive!
I felt that buring desire.....& left a comment ;) Thanks for the link!
I left a comment too Karen, thanks for pointing this out. It was a great read and a must read for anyone thinking about starting a home staging business.
Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your kind words and giving a shout out about my decision to become a homestager. I think it's important no matter what industry you are looking into to do your homework. I'm actually going to another follow up on my blog, about the HS industry. Connie above has agreed to be a guest blogger (Thank you, Connie). I have a lot of readers and this particular subject has hit a nerve with many of them.
HGTV makes it looks so easy and of course, commercials like Haverhill Staging adds fuel to notion that this is a piece of cake. You know what I mean? Hopefully, shedding some more light on this topic will keep my readers informed and then they can make the decision to do what is best for them. So be sure and check back for my follow up.
Thanks again,
Crystal www.OliveRue.blogspot.com
I hope Crystal follows her dreams! I am glad you brought this to our attention Karen.
Karen: I have a lot of respect for these who really bring home staging to another level and I wish Crystal lots of success.
This would be a great post to forward to people wanting to get into the business.
Karen -- thanks for posting this link for us to read. Crystal is one of the smart ones who doesn't base her desire of becoming a stager mainly on emotion. It's not an easy business to make a profit in! We all need to enlighten the newbie stagers out there.
Hi Barbara! That's good to hear about staging success in Maryland. It is catch on here; but lots and lots of skeptics.
Hey Connie! Looks like you and Crystal have connected. I think this is an outstanding post she created. Funny how we blog this stuff all of the time; but I guess people just think we are on our soap box. But when someone who hasn't leaped in cautiously advises I think the message is very strong to the newbies! Good luck with the blog.
I agree Karen O. -- Olive Rue, aka Crystal should be required reading!
A special welcome here to you Ms. Olive Rue, aka Crystal! I'd love to chat over coffee sometime! Your photography is amazing!
Hi Cathy-- I am sure Crystal is appreciative of your encouragement. You are a great example that staging can be rewarding!
Oh Lloyd-- I would love to be your stager! Thank you!
Hi Cindy -- can we make it required reading :-)
Hello Maureen-- Isn't Crystal right on? I am quite impressed. It takes 3 years minimum. As she pointed out, many Realtors still do not use staging or know how it works. This industry is still "EDUCATING" the public and Realtors, while some of the training schools are schmoozing the newbies and wannabes.
I too saw this in my google alerts. Thanks for sharing it here in the Rain, Karen!
Kathy
Hi Karen, thanks for pointing me to Crystal's blog, loved reading everyone's encouraging comments!
Hi everyone. It's Crystal (aka Olive Rue) You know the lady that stirred up all this mess. :-) First of all, thank you for all the sweet comments posted above. The well wishes and encouragement means the world to me.
Also, I wanted to let you know I have since posted a 3rd blog about Home Staging. In this post I have added the links from my 1st and 2nd post. You can read it here: http://oliverue.blogspot.com/2009/09/careers-in-home-staging-part-3.html
Thanks again! I hope you all have a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
Karen...Thank you for sharing blogs on home staging. It is important to do your homework in any business, great read.
I enjoyed reading the whole series of three posts that Crystal wrote. I hope she finds her true calling, be it staging or something else. She has proven that she takes her career very seriously and I am sure she will make the right decision eventually...the one that is right for her. I am so glad you linked to her blog, thanks!
I hope she does make it into our industry as she has the right attitude, she obviously is a professional and a smart woman. We need more of those in our industry to keep moving it in the right direction and less of the people who think its just a nice little hobby that we should be doing on the side.
Karen, It was a good link to share and I don't believe enough people take the time to really look into home staging as a profession; they seem to be under the impression that it's easy when it's anything BUT easy!
Hi Karen,
just came across your post and understand...I, too took the leap 3 years ago and started my own Staging company, as well as contiuing my Real Estate practice here in New Jersey. Doing your homework before hand makes a huge difference! Meeting fellow stagers along the way and sharing bets practices is icing on the cake. Also, RESA (Real Estate Stagers Association) is also a tremendour resource. RESA is holding EXPOs all over the country...I hope there's one coming to your area!
Wishing you continued success!
