Proper Scale Helps Secure the Sale - A Home Staging Transformation

By
Home Stager with Reveal Estate Home Staging - Vancouver

Successful home stagers know that scale and proportion are crucial factors to consider when merchandising property.

Being located in downtown Vancouver has provided Reveal Estate with the opportunity to stage several small properties. That is if you consider less than 700 square feet small. These listings often have challenging floor plans, adding to the difficulty of effective presentation.

When selling a property perhaps the smallest rooms benefit the most from correctly scaled furnishings. Please consider the room pictured below. Counting the 12 inch floor tiles will put the size of this room into perspective.

According to the floor plan and listing description, this space is a “home office”. Most potential buyers would not be able to imagine the functionality of such limited space if it were left vacant. Can you?

A perfect solution, Jackson!  As you know, small spaces can be sometimes more challenging than a very large room.  It takes a creative mind!!  Again, a perfect solution.

Thanks for the link!!

Jackson - excellent job!  I am looking forward to staging a small space.  My big challenge now is find a way to stage 3 massive family/living areas in the same house without it looking like the same room. Any advice?

Jackson, Thanks so much for the links!

I am impressed with the office! I would have asked the owner if they were kidding me. I completely missed the lamp shades too!

Jackson - Another fabulous transition.  I also love the artwork.  I would have never thought to put two color with two black and white photos. You are a master!

Steven, thanks for commenting. Because there was no window or color in this room I felt it important to inject a little outdoor scenery.

Marci, thanks SIS! (stager in the South)

Sylvia, if there is an effective way to introduce an angle in any room, I will do it. Just ask Sheron Cardin.

Kathy, your solution to making that kitchen more functional was brilliant!

Kimberly, using a different color of accessories in each room may be the simplest and most effective solution.

Val, challenges like this keep our portfolios looking fresh and interesting.

Cheryl-Anne, the room had a pocket door. Planning on putting more pics of this property on my website soon. See you on Tuesday.

Dane, your article was excellent, always glad to promote other talented stagers.

Betty, thank you for the kind words my fellow CSP.

Maureen, I am always looking for creative ways to hang art. Being 6'4, I am now in the habit of bending my knees to get lower  to check the eye level of most people.

Way to stage it small Veronica! How did you hang the artwork on the brick?

Thanks, Jackson!

For that artwork, I used little nails. The grout held them just fine. I tried to use my usual 3M Command Adhesive strips, but the brick was very sandy on the surface and the adhesive strips wouldn't adhere.

Amazing! There are so many very talented people on AR.  I'm working on a large house with two very awkward small spaces, one under the stairs and one in the upstairs landing. Your office and lisa's space have inspired me! Thanks
