The Bumper Sticker I Want For My Bumper

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Destiny Real Estate Cambridge, MA

We've got really good bumper stickers around Cambridge and I've started snapping photos of them for my blog.  As a real estate agent I don't have bumper stickers (well I finally put one on my car last year for the election) on my car as much as I would like to.

I'm sometimes tempted to put my all time favorite bumper sticker on the car - it's one that sums up my philosophy of life in this day and age  - "If You're Not Outraged You're Not Paying Attention." Outrage is my middle name - I've got a long list of things I'm outraged about and that bumper sticker says it all.

But I was driving around the other day and by chance discovered what I think is a really important bumper sticker right now.  I didn't notice it at first - I was taking a picture of this bumper sticker that really tickled my funny bone:

Bumper sticker that says Bumper Sticker

Above it though was this one - sorry it's so fuzzy - I hadn't even noticed it initially and then traffic started moving:

Bumper sticker that says "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities"

In case you can't read it it's a quote from Voltaire: Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.  You can buy it here

This sums it up for me and it's going on my car.

I love the Voltaire Quote. Must remember that one.  Love the Bumper Sticker also.

that is a good one.  some bumper stickers either make you laugh, think hard, or feel sorry for the driver.

Hi Jane ~ Aren't they great? This driver and I were definitely on the same wave length.

That's a great one Mott - I'll hvae to check out that site for sure.

Exactly Russ! I'm building a collection of these pictures (typically not so fuzzy) - but trying to grab a photo while driving can be tricky. Luckily our traffic tends to give me a lot of opportunities to do it at a standstill.

Liz, the only bumper sticker I have had in years was one I had on my BMW, it said "Got Milk". Now aren't you surprised? LOL. They are fun though!

Liz - That first one really tickled me too!  I tried to get some pics the other day of stickers on the car in front of me - no luck - red light changed.  There are some really creative ones out there!

GOOD MORNING LIZ!  Very fun post!  I am particularly impressed that you were able to get such good pictures considering the average time during a traffic light change is around 72 seconds! Enjoy your Sunday! -- Gabrielle

Love the Voltaire quote also - have that on a t-shirt. Another great place to shop is http://syracuseculturalworkers.com/ - I buy note cards and t-shirts there - also my holiday/Christmas cards.

I have a bumper sticker that says "Promote Tolerance." As a Realtor, it's difficult to HAVE bumper stickers, but as a citizen, it's hard NOT to.  :-)  Love this post!

Hi Lori ~ My sentiments exactly! I've got "If you're not outraged..." here on my desk and I think it's going on the car though the Voltaire quote may be the one I want - more to the point.  I will definitely check out that link - thanks!

Liz -

I like bumper stickers too but quirky license tags come in a close second.  I'll try and snap a few to share.  You should talk to my wife about outrage . . . she wants her own blog and has reserved the domain name "Cranky Woman"!

Hi Michael ~ I love that!! What a score - that's a great domain name.  Re license plates - my ebay name for years and my etsy name too is "chumlyb". Chumly was one of my father's nicknames for my mother and she had a CHUMLY vanity plate for a while. It always gave people a chuckle when they saw it. "Chumly" was taken when I started on ebay so it's been chumlyb ever since.  Vanity plates are really big in NH - I guess they're easier to get there - and we love trying to figure out what they mean.  I look forward to your photos!
