Active rain, the world, and you

Hi There Russ: You have written a really good blog here, it's all about what we are supposed to do, as professionals, to benefit the public. I have a friend, a person that I helped keep from going into foreclosure, several years ago that has sent me many referrals. I didn't make any money with her and spent a good bit of time with her, however it has come back to me ~ many times.

Pay it forward.  And stop counting the money...it's about helping people, feeling good about what you do and helping others get their goals met.  The money will follow... and it does. 

Help comes in unexpected ways from unexpected sources at the time it is most desperately needed- if you keep that in mind and are willing to help even one person, then you have become part of something wonderful. 

If you have not seen the "Pursuit of Happiness"  I strongly recommend it. It will change your perspective.

So today, make someone else's day- be it with a kind word, a gentle smile, a reassuring nod, or random gesture of kindness. 

Russ, I absolutley agree with you. I am always happy to help any question I am able to even when I know there isn't going to be any work from them. I always think that if I treat them well, if they know somebody that may need some real estate needs, they will remember me, how I treated them, and think to refer me.

Wealth becomes when giving than receiving, Russ is right, your talents are needed by less fortunate people

Russ - That is beautiful !  And the paradox is the more you help others, the more you help yourself.

After we are gone, many of our blogs will still exist on the internet, leaving a record of our contributions.

What a wonderful concept!!   Why has society forgotten to teach this to the kids of today. 

I like your post and your thought.....it would be nice to see more of the "old school teachings" being implemented in today's world.

My sentiments, EXACTLY.  It is comforting to stop and read that our world is a better place. If I had been money motivated throughout my life...I might have spent more money. Today, in the twilight, I look back at ups and downs and find great comfort in my efforts. I can still find a pizza and coke for $10 for lunch. I have a wonderful partner that loves me like no other lover. I have children and grandchildren that afford me the place of honor and respect. I have a community of friends that see possibilities with every challenge. I have today.

Today, I will once again attempt to reach out, touch, share and leave a small bread crumb for others to follow when seeking a better tomorrow.

Our team has helped many folks over the years not looking for "what's in it for me?"  It is just the right thing to do.  It is being kind.  I didn't really think of it as making a mark in the world but if that's the case, I feel good about my philosophy & my team's direction.  Thanks!

People question my sanity daily about doing short sales. Yes it's hard, yes it's takes at least twice as long. But when you see the faces oon the rescued family at closing, it is a great feeling that money can't buy.

Russ: Thank you for your inspiring words. I live my life to serve others. I have never made service about money … nor am I concerned about money … when I am in service to others … the money follows. The little things do add up to a lot of love we can send into the world. I agree with the other Russ – simple is a judgment. Choosing to live a simple life (as I do) is not the same as being simple.

Thanks for the terrific post! Imagine if EVERYONE had this mind set what a wonderful world this would be! We all have something we are able to share with another. From our knowledge to our opening a door for someone. Take some time every day to give to our fellow human beings!

What is the old saying? We get what we give! I know first hand we get more from giving than waiting around to receive!

Russ - My philosophy is "No Good deed goes undone" . I try to help everyone within my limits and knowledge irregardless of their current situation.

Amen Russ !  - My email and phone are non stop most days, and many are not direct clients, but I'm happy to be their go-to guy for things I can help them with or chat about.

Hi Russ~ I get lots of calls or emails that really do not have much to do with real estate.  I actually enjoy helping others and doing things that have nothing to do with making money!  Sometimes it is just someone who needs another person that cares enough to help them through the situation...paying it forward is so rewarding!

Hi Russ,  Many of us practice reaching out to others all the time.  I just got back from SC from lending a hand.  I really did not have the time to spare, but I had a friend in need.

It does not matter whether you spend time with organized charities or reach out to individuals.  Kindness reaps rewards 10 fold.  God has been very good to me and I try to give back.
