Update:  This home sold in just 12 days after staging and listing!  Another home staging success story in Portland OR

I've worked with a lot of bachelors as well as "flippers" to help them prepare their homes for sale in Portland Oregon ... but this recent project may take the top prize.  Why was this Seller so successful?  Because he made a plan, did the work, hired a professional home stager, and also asked me for a referral for a great Realtor whose track record is awesome!

portland oregon home staging

My client planned this "flip" in a home he's been living in for several years.  He contacted me 3 months ago and asked for my recommendations for final cosmetic improvements like paint color, cabinet hardware, landscaping, etc.  We also discussed staging each room to show the best use of each space for potential buyers and making sure we had a great traffic flow throughout the home.  When the home was ready for staging, we used the owner's furniture wherever possible and provided needed items from our own inventory, to keep the client's costs down.

In the living room, there's a wonderful beam in the vaulted ceiling, a great fireplace and big windows, but the existing furniture was typical "bachelor" style.  Here's how it looked Before and After our staging ...

Maureen - Absolutely phenomenal staging. The transformation is so huge. Did the homeowner cry?  I know I would have. I would have paid money to have had a camera hidden some where just to see his reaction as I'm sure he was thrilled.

Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group Staging Before & After Pictures.

Wow!  Great transformation Maureen.  From bachelor pad to model home.  Great use of space and love the accent wall you painted out too.  The flow is fabulous and the artwork is a great compliment to the space and furnishings.  I am sure it will sell quickly.

You always do such fabulous work for you clients Maureen.  I think it's funny how you do so many bachelor pads too - they must ask you to help them once they move to their new houses too!

Wowzie!  It really was a bachelor pad before you came along and what a fantastic transformation you made.    Smart man for getting your advice BEFORE he listed the house.  Love the brown accent wall...is that the entry/foyer?

Sometimes you just have to stare at before/after shots because it's hard to believe it's the same place.

Brilliant job!

Maureen-I'm still staring at the great job you did on the house!  What a transformation!  I didn't even notice the fireplace in the "Before" picture.  What color did you use on the accent wall?  Good job!!!!

Jim ~ We like to change buyers' first impressions - yes!

Carole ~ Thanks, you're right this bachelor would have enjoyed these changes any time.

Karen ~ Why thank you, this was such a fun project because you could just tell from the beginning that it was going to become a fabulous home.  He also did a great job with the landscaping.

Kathy ~ That hidden camera idea is a great one!  :-)  Would make for some fun "reveals" - thanks for the feature.

Michele ~ The scale of each room seems perfect in this home and made placing art and accessories so easy.

Donna ~ Before, it was just another bachelor pad -- typically comfortable for the seller, but not appealing to buyers.

Karen ~ We've helped a lot of bachelors, it's true they need a little extra help I guess!

Ginger ~ That accent wall is a space between the kitchen and living room.  Painting it a warm chocolate color made it so much more interesting and drew your eye up toward the beam.

Wendy ~ Loking at Before & After shots of others' staged homes is one of my favorite pastimes.  The more dramatic the change, the better!

Cathy ~ Thanks, I plan to update this one because I just know it will sell quickly!

Kathy ~ Thanks for your feedback ~ the fireplace with its new mantle is now a proper focal point.  The color on the accent wall is Devine Cocoa.

Allegra ~ The fireplace was really bare without the mantle and was hardly even noticeable.   Even small changes can make such a big impact, can't they?

Mel ~ Thank you so much for such a kind remark....isn't A/R just the greatest place to share and collaborate?

Beautiful job, as always!  I didn't even know the fireplace was there.  I glanced quickly and thought it was a TV.  Adding the mantle was a great idea!

Sharon ~ This seller was so smart in all of his decisions that his home is sure to sell quickly!  He was so encouraged by the outcome that he now intends to "flip" other homes in the future (this was his first).

It's always so great when the flipper/owner does a grat job in the finish out of a property.  I'ms sure this one won't last long, beautiful job.

Maureen, you have delivered another outstanding job! A savvy professional stager combined with a motivated seller is an unbeatable combination.

I love your Devine paint choices. They really do work well with our Northwest light, don't they? Cocoa is especially rich and appealing.

Michelle ~ My seller client did the hard work.  What I did was pure fun!

Cindy ~ I know you work with clients like this one too. Isn't it great when they work so hard and the results are so outstanding?

Kathy ~ I just put the icing on the cake, so to speak and yes, Devine paint works well in our Northern light.  Their colors are just yummy.

Maureen,

Great job!  I have a similar situation with clients who have been working on the renovations to their house since June: the homeowners are doing work themselves.  They have also done all the right things and the changes are awesome.  I can hardly wait to stage it and get the results they deserve.

Clients like yours & mine are a pleasure to work with.
