And did I say friend? After over a year of communicating via our Active Rain Blogs and through telephone conversations I finally met Sylvie Conde, (a local realtor with Sutton Group) while down in Toronto settling my daughter Rachel in to her first year at the University of Toronto.

University of Toronto
In the next few days I'm going to do a series of posts on Toronto and my experiences here these past 2 weeks but first and foremost I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the most amazing Tour Guide ever!
CN Tower - Toronto
From picking me up at the station - to dinner at a terrific Portuguese restuarant - teaching me how to order 'real Sushi' - :-) - a driving tour of some of Toronto's major attractions - a morning at 'The Distillery' - a day trip to the Toronto Zoo - and another to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake - Sylvie has taken time out of her crazy busy schedule to show Rachel and I an amazing 'perspective' of the Toronto area.

Niagara Falls - The Mist
The rest of the time - only a Blackberry away - she's given me step by step subway/streetcar directions, Hot Spot locations & restaurant reviews like none other. Truly if she was looking for another vocation - this would be it! Looking for a restaurant critic - and how to find the 'ins and outs' of Toronto - she's your gal!
So if you've been wondering where I've been - I've been in 'Tawranta' (hope I got that right :-)! This is the longest I've ever not posted on Active Rain.......and I can't even say I've gone through any major withdrawals because we've been so incredibly busy enjoying this beautiful city - but I'm looking forward to sharing some photos and insights in posts to come.
So thank you Sylvie You're Amazing! - Toronto is lucky - your family is blessed - Active rain is fortunate to have you as a contributor - and I am truly honoured to have had you as my personal Tour Guide - and most importantly Friend! :) Thank you!

Hi Liz - Glad to hear that you had a great time in "Tawrana" (we locals don't pronounce the second "T"). You picked the best two weeks, weatherwise, to be in our great city.
I look forward to reading your upcoming T.O. posts to see how a westerner views "the centre of Canada".
I had noticed from Sylvie's posts that the three of you had been all over, which is fantastic. Often, when I read city reviews from out of town newspapers (e.g. New York Times), they tend to focus on a very small part of Toronto - usually the downtown core, as if the rest of the GTA and surrounding area, such as Niagara Falls (which is not in the GTA) don't exist.
Will you be visiting T.O. a lot over the next four years while your daughter is at U of T?
