Longhorn Football is on Paid Service Only.

This stinks.  I have been a University of Texas at Austin Longhorns Football team fan since my youngest grandson could say, HOOK EM  Gran!

That a few years ago.  Last fall I heard about this was going to happen, but ya know sometimes one just has to see it happen before they believe it.  In this case that is true.

First UT Longhorn Game is tonight, kickoff was at 6PM .. what am I watching on the Television?  Alabama vs Virginia Tech.  Not to say its not a great game, I'm sure it will be but how do I say HOOK'EM?

Don't my taxes pay for the University here?  Real Estate taxes, county taxes, road taxes, retail taxes and you name it taxes?  School fees and etc? Why do I have to pay a  cable company to get a special channel to watch the LONGHORNS play football?  This Stinks!  I am one disgruntled gran.

Lisa, thanks for dropping in tonight. Yes it just stinks.  A cable channel paid for seperately just for football?  ALmost like payperview.  :(

That is ridiculous. Why not share the team with the people that WANT to see the game without having to make a huge profit on televising them. Thats crazy.

Gail

I don't like it either!  I think one day it will bite them in the rear. The Universities are draining every penny they can out of sports.  You know here at A and M there is a joke... What does A&M  stand for now?  .... Athletics and Money! :O)

I'm married to a Texas Aggie. We don't get many Big 12 games out here, although both Oklahoma State-Georgia and Oklahoma-BYU were on yesterday.

Television is having a hard time paying the bills because of streaming video on the Internet. Couple that with the fact that ESPN seems to own the rights to every sport there is now, and they need to find a way to pay for it.

My husband watched the A&M-New Mexico game on streaming video. It was free but he had to give the service all his contact information, including the name of his first-born. They were not happy when he told them he didn't have a first-born, or any born -- LOL.

You are right. That is a crime. Let the fans see the game and quit being greedy.

John, I know... its beyond ridiculous!

Trey, I guess when a University pays $10million a year for a coach, it comes from somewhere... you and me.

Jim, I thank you for the idea about streaming video ... will it work for payperview? I know that Ray is an avid A&M fan, at least your house isn't divided there.   I can not imagine him giving up the cat. :)

Terry, its awful, and I am so sad.  But I will not buy tickets and fight the crowds to see it in person... its always better on TV anyway, because you get replay.  LOL.   Maybe I will find a bar that does a live coverage?  Oh but I hate to pay $5 for a cup of coffee.

Gail,

I feel your pain. We pay about $75 a month for our cable package, and still no Longhorns!! We listened to the game, but its just not the same as watching Colt work his miracles on the field!!

;)

Betina, can you imagine.  Our cable bill is high also but we did not subscibe to the extra channel for football.  Its a public funded University, I think the games from that University should be available to the public.  JMHO.
