Well, my dear friends at Forbes magazine have done it again !

Forbes has just released a study that names the Top Ten best cities to earn a living in.  One of the main criteria they use is that the cities must have plenty of companies doing business in high-paying, growth industries.

The Top Ten cities are... in order:

     1)   Fort Worth/Dallas

     2)   Houston

     3)   Minneapolis

     4)   Austin, Texas

     5)   Washington, D.C.

     6)   St. Louis

     7)   Seattle

     8)   Atlanta

     9)   Kansas City, Mo.

   10)   Denver

Forbes says this is the economic reality now, and the conditions are likely to get even better as health care, technolgy, and energy draw more employees into their ranks.

I mentioned at the beginning that with this survey that my "friends" at Forbes magazine have done it again.  Are the folks at Forbes also my friends when they come up with conclusions that I disagree with ?  Well... not so much.  LOL.

Pat:  I didn't know you were from Fort Worth... LOL.  Yes... Washington, D.C. will always do well.  DC... and the surrounding suburbs... is a very vibrant place to both live and work.  Always stuff going on... regardless of which party is in power.

yes, tis true that Ft. Worth/Dallas still has a job market.  The only bad thing is the pay.  I guess some money is better than no money.

Angelia:  Everything is relative.  Lower pay, but incredibly low prices for housing.  I have lived in other parts of the country, and even if a worker made four times what they might make here... they STILL could not afford a home.  And yes... some money IS better than no money.  We may not know it, but in living in Fort Worth/Dallas... we are in a good place.  Other cities have it much, much worse.  Take care... hope all is well with you.

Karen Anne,

Really good news for Texas, especially the DFW area.  I would think this trend will continue for some time.

Steve:  Let's hope that somehow the folks who have lost jobs in the FW/D market can somehow benefit with this hint of economic upturn.

Richard:  Hopefully... things will continue to improve.  It's a funny thing about the jobless rate, though.  The current unemployment rate may be 9.7%... but a person is either 100% employed... or 100% out of a job.  Not an easy thing to be... regardless of HOW the rest of the economy is doing.
