Jeff Long - SarasotaNow this is slick.  Jeff Long of Sarasota now provides an on line service that will create an instant capture page that you can use in front of ANY website to capture name and email (optionally phone number) from anyone who visits your site.

A Landing Page or a Capture Page is a marketing device that is used to give your visitor a chance to give you contact information before you let them see the good stuff on your site.  The beauty of this service is that it requires no HTML experience, no coding, no data bases to attach to your page – all the techie stuff is done for you by the easy capture page system.

Check it out at www.capturepagestogo.info – disclaimer – I am a paid representative for the company (but not nearly enough). Come back to this post and let us know in comments what you think of the presentation.

Now let me tell you how this system solved a problem for me

You create the capture page in their system after you become a client.  You can control page format, add photos and even add a video to the page.  This page is intended to appear in front of any website you choose.  So you drive traffic to the URL (address) they give you, or you point your own domain name to the URL of the capture page (for example my domain www.capturepagestogo.info is pointed to the presentation page for Jeff’s company).  Then you specify in page setup the page you want to redirect the visitor to after they opt in with their information.

applauseThis will allow you to place this page in front of your MLS site or your company site pages.  But you will get contact info on the visitor before they get into the site.  Let me say it again.  You can place this landing page in front of any website page – even pages you do not own.  As long as the visitor enters through your gateway page address, you have the opportunity to get contact information.

Jeff’s site will automatically email you with the contact info, the page name (you named it) that gathered the information, and the date and time they opted in through the page.  The information is also maintained in the back office of the system and can be exported to the contact manager or email client of your choice.

The capture page can be placed in front of real estate sites, direct marketing sites,  social marketing sites, clickbank pages, blogs, MLM company replicated sites or any other internet page.  You are not interfering with the operation of the site – because only visitors that enter through your gateway see the capture information.  Not only do you capture contact information but you also present your message – and it can be a personal video - to visitors before they go through the gateway to your site.

This is a powerful step up for your internet marketing system.  It helps you with personal branding of pages and it gathers vital contact information for you to follow up with personal contact.  The concept of landing pages or capture pages is not new – but this is easy, non-technical and cost effective.  It requires no coding, html or expensive consultant or designer.  If you use the internet for marketing – and we all do – you need to see this system.  Pricing is less than $100 per year and permits unlimited use.

Check it out.  <link>

UPDATE

The material on the first page is mostly sales oriented.  Enter your contact  information to get to the good stuff on the second page (its a capture page, remember?) and view the video on the second page.  It is about 20 minutes - but will explain the nuts and bolts of the system and the uses where you will benefit by the application of this new technology.  (Patent Applied for, by the way)

Hmm...so Ted, you would be able to have your page appear before a site, like say, Realtor.com or even facebook, linked in?

Rebecca - that is correct - but the visitor has to enter realtor.com through your page (rebeccasrealtor.com for example).  The visitor gives you their contact info and are then forwarded to Realtor.com.

Hmmmmm.........are many people ok with giving a name and email address to get to a website?  I think too many would opt out and find another site.

Thanks Doug for the response.  I think that the key to your excellent question is that the visitor is coming to the landing page (or capture page) in response to your marketing efforts.  He is already interested in what you have to say.  So I think the opportunity to present a graphically branded page with a message from me and even a short personal video introduction is useful and a request for contact information is not unreasonable before the visitor passes on the the main site.

You are not alone in your point - I had private emails today from friends who have the same concern.

In my area, our MLS provides a pretty good set of computer tools to agents.  But the MLS pages provided to members are made from a range of templates with some limited customization.  I like the idea of having a landing page which will be reached with my domain name which presents a graphic message and perhaps a video branding of my site more agressively than might be available in MLS and asking for contact information before passing into my MLS site with searching capabilities.  There is an option (I am not into taking prisoners at this point)  to include a button to close the landing page without getting the requested input from the visitor - for the visitor who does not want to give information at this point.  But I believe most will give the info and will help me provide superior service to them by direct contact.  And clearly if you do not ask for the information - you will not get it.  I want to be able to create a list of contacts who have opted into my contact list by providing their information.  I can then continue to market to this list. Always providing the prospect an opportunity to opt back out again.  I am a marketeer, not a stalker.

I think it is useful for me (but then I also market other products besides real estate) - your mileage may vary.

Thank you again for your comment.

I always thought we were only allowed to find the clients name if they sign in.  Any other form would be without their permission.  Am I wrong?

Hi Kay - thanks for stopping by.

A capture page (or landing page) is always an opt-in process.  That means that the visitor must affirmatively sign in to the page to leave contact information.  If the visitor does not want to leave information, nothing is received.

In the case of this particular product, there is an option in the set up of the page that permits the visitor to proceed without leaving contact information - or to require contact info before admitting the visitor to the page.  You can also have the capture page pop up after the visitor has viewed the site when they exit.  My personal preference is to ask for contact information up front, but not require it.  I certainly understand that if you are too coercive you will just lose the contact.

In my view the capture pages serve two useful purposes.  First they allow you to personalize and brand the page to you.  Sometimes you may use the page as a gateway to a site that is not yours or over which you do not have editorial control.  The page lets you place your picture, logo, introduction and even video on the gateway page.  Second, they allow you to ask for contact information and receive an immediate email (or mobile text message) to advise you that a visitor has come on to your site and wants you to contact them with follow up information.

You can place your capture page in front of any site - but only viewers who access the site with the URL (or domain name) that you provide come through your gateway.  For example, you could put a page in front of Google.com.  But only visitors who entered through (for example) www.VanKampenSearch.com would see the capture page.  After they passed through your page, they would be immediately transferred to www.Google.com.
