One of the best places to go for shopping and entertainment in San Diego County is the Viejas Casino and Viejas Outlet Center in Alpine, about 25 miles east of your Mission Valley condo.
The Casino, along with gaming, of course, has one of the best buffets in all of the county. Across the street at the Outlet Center has to be one of the most beautifully landscaped malls in all the country, not just the county, mainly because it's an outdoor mall in the beautiful pine trees in the mountain community of Alpine.
The Viejas Indian band recently announced that they are going to construct a 16,000-square feet, 12-lane bowling center and bar. Their intent is to transform a retail shopping center into a lifestyle center that includes more than just shopping. They have had summer concerts for several years now, and there is a fire show in the summer and an ice skating rink surrounding a huge Christmas tree in the winter.
No word on when construction will begin or when the lanes will be open, but I'm sure they will get front-page news when it happens.
