I don't have any idea. But it looks like a great white shark with a black fin.
Gary,
It looks like a rudder of some kind, but that's as far as I can guess.

Thank you all for viewing and commenting. We had some great comments.
Jim, Great answer. You definitely have a good imagination.
Marcia, Another very creative idea. But, I would hate to be in that airplane.
Charles, Wow another very great idea. it would be fun to sneak back and label it with you're comment as a sign.
Richard, Another great guess.
Karen, Even on the square column, it is a sundial, so you are correct.
Kevin, You're right.
This is a sundial at Fort Bridger State Historic Site in Southwestern Wyoming. I just attended the annual mountain man Rendezvous which is held the first weekend of September. Fort Bridger was started by the mountain man Jim Bridger as a fur trading post in 1842 on Blacks Fork of the Green River.
I though it might be a sundial.....but had no idea where it was. Interesting history lesson.
Ann,
Thank you. It was an interesting day in Fort Bridger and I also learned several very interesting historical facts. I will post a few more items soon.
Wow, I wouldn't have guessed, I thought it looked like a shark too! :) Great picture, thanks for sharing.
Kevin & Monica, It is amazing how much it does look like a shark's fin. Thanks for commenting.
I was really hoping it was the burial plot for the land shark... That shark really bugs me when he comes on behalf of UNICEF. But, he at least you know what time it is there.
Todd, You must be a fan of "Saturday Night Live". Anyway, I guess that land shark must still be out there "Trick-or-Treating".
Gary I had no clue so I am glad you gave the answer by the time I got here.
Jennifer, Your timing was perfect -- you don't have to keep checking back. Thanks for looking and for your comment.
GARY: I arrived late, too. I would not have guessed a sundial. Thanks for providing us with interesting facts about this sundial at Fort Bridger State Historic Site in Southwestern Wyoming
