 As a service to Oyster Bay-East Norwich community and its neighboring villages, here is a list of events and things of importance which make our community a nice place to live, work and play.  I grouped them according to clubs and date of events.  There are plenty of activities which make you enjoy early fall.

SAGAMORE HILL

SAGAMORE HILL SUMMER SCHEDULE-  OPEN EVERY DAY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 7TH, including tours of the president's home (10 A.M. to 4 P.M. daily) and visitation at the public buildings (including free visits to Old Orchard Museum- 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily), with the grounds and trails open from dawn to dusk.  The Visitor Center and Gift Shop are open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily.  For more information, visit their website at www.nps.gov/sahi or call 922-4788.

A 155-acre site is home to more than 149 resident and migratory birds, 49 species of butterflies and 150 native plant species.

Book Signing for "Oyster Bay: Images of America"

John E. Hammond, Town Historian and Oyster Bay Historical Society Trustee, will sign his latest book, Oyster Bay: Images of America, on Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 pm at the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society, 14 West Main St in Oyster Bay.

A portion of the proceeds of the book's sales will go to the Angela P. Koenig Research and Collections Center Building Fund of the Oyster Bay Historical Society, and will be eligible under the Dolan Foundation's Matching Grant.

 

RAYNHAM HALL

OYSTER BAY RAILROAD MUSEUM

Every Saturday -  Visit The Oyster Bay Railroad Museum Preview Center - and help them grow.   Now featuring an exhibition of the work of renowned railroad artist Lou Mallard.

Monday September 21, 7:30pm, at the Christ Church Parish Hall, 61 East Main Street in Oyster Bay.  Noted author and Smithsonian Institution Transportation curator Bill Withuhn will give a presentation, "America on the Move".  The event is sponsored by the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum. Admission is free.

PLANTING FIELDS ARBORETUM

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT PLANTING FIELDS ARBORETUM.  The Arboretum and Coe Hall are recruiting volunteers to lead groups of visitors on a new hour-long tour of Coe Hall, as well as to assist in the gift shop, gardens, and greenhouses.  Contact Elsa at 922-8670 or eeisenberg@plantingfields.org.

PARISH PICNIC & 500 CLUB RAFFLE

Sunday, Sept. 13 at St. Dominic Playing Fields, Charles B. Wang Campus, Muttontown, NY.  Noon Mass (Please bring a lawn chair for the outdoor mass) followed by a BBQ and Raffle Drawing.  Only 500 tickets will be sold.  $100 donation per ticket. You do not have to purchase a raffle ticket to attend the picnic.  Winner need not be present to win.  Please call the parish office regarding the raffle or if you are attending the picnic so the committee can give an accurate count to the caterer.

PANTRY DONATIONS.  Pantry needs (including supermarket gift cards) are in need for our neighbors and can be dropped off at the St. Dominic Social Ministry office (off the parking lot behind the chapel) or the Parish Office (across the street from the chapel) (922-4488, ext. 1277).
