Just because you've been around a long time doesn't mean that you don't have to keep up with the times!

I couldn't agree more.  Last night I had a conversation about how many changes I have seen in my lifetime and it is mind blowing.  (because I am just a baby).  It seems there is something new to learn every day!

Richard, change is constant.  Life is ever changing, in order to participate we must go with the flow and change as it comes, or be left behind, be it in business or personal life.  I learned to use a computer long before most of my friends, a few can still not send an email.  How basic is that?  Change is often good, and if its not, we can change it back!  :)

Life is constantly changing. In order to continue to be successful you must keep up with current trends and technology. Look at what Apple did to get back into the game. No resting on their laurels!!

Richard, you are so right!  It's important to update the 20th century stuff that still works with all of the wonderful new stuff.  I still think my most important tool of the trade is my telephone!

Richard:  I even get frustrated with my poor old 77 year old Mom who refuses to get a computer.  She has no idea how much easier it would be to communicate with her friends and family (all who have email) and even to look things up. 

Those that choose to stay in the past are destined to repeat the steps to failure.  We need to constantly review the way we are doing things and dispose of those systems that are not working.

Richard - Right you are.  I know it sounds trite, but the old "you snooze, you lose" axiom is pretty accurate.  :)

Richard, so true.  What is "experience" afterall but evidence of our past willingness to change and keep up with what is new.  I have never been able to understand those people that thing that no more good rock and roll has been made since 1969.  Everything is just sucessive moments of "now.":)

Richard..I believe that the longer you are around...the more you need to keep up with the times.  Things change and we get complacent and all of a sudden it's nearly to late and you are behind the '8' ball!

Hi Richard... Very true!  It not about your past record of success, it's about what you are doing to be successful today!  We all need to be on top of our game, and the game is being played right now!

I have an old fax machine I would like to sell anyone want it I'll even throw in some free ink. We do get caught up in doing it the way we always have and don't look at new ways of doing things only to be passed by. Great advice.

Richard, Someone once told me you're only as good as the success you had with your last client.  No matter how long I've been in business I know I have to keep up and do it well.  Thanks for the reminder!

It's funny and somewhat disturbing to me how people will get into a comfort zone in the way they conduct there business. In my profession changes occur continually, yet it seems only a few move with those changes.

Unfortunately, in my experience, the folks that have been around the longest are the most reluctant to change and adapt. It's a shame too, because with all their experience in the business they have a ton of knowledge to offer.
