Haymarket VA Realtor - Haymarket Homes for Sale - You've Been Reserved

My clients and colleagues will tell you I don't like to talk about myself, but this experience had me smiling and after retelling it to one of my colleagues I was encourage to share it.  Last weekend while finishing up with clients at a home inspection my cell phone rang with a number "unknown".  As I have a few out of the country clients and that is how their numbers tend show up on Caller ID, I asked my clients if I could just take the call to see who it was.  They smiled and said of course.  The caller was indeed from out of the country (UK) and had plans to move back to the Virginia area where they grew up in the next six months.  They had called after seeing some of my properties for sale in their family's neighborhood while visiting here.  They told me the would like to "Reserve Me" (American in the UK with a British Accent and slang to boot), I repeated this back and said, "You want to Reserve Me?".  They said yes their family had worked with me and knew that I try to work with one client at a time, but they were not tech savvy and were having  trouble getting a search set up on my web site to fit their needs.  I proceeded to find out what their "Wish List"was for their new home, as well as some basic information on the needs of the whole family and told them I would get the search set up within the next day and let me know if they were getting what they wanted or if I needed to refine the search for them, that way they would be educated on the homes and market conditions when they were ready to buy. 

After getting off the phone my clients said, we have to ask "What were you Reserved for?".  I told them the gist of the conversation and they laughed and said "We wish we had Reserved you for our first home buying visit!  If we had we would have had a much better feeling about moving here in the first place!

You see they had come to the  Haymarket area 6 weeks back due to a Company Relocation.  They had a Realtor that had promised to help them but as they put it, didn't want to or know how to do her job.  The Realtor showed us 3 homes that were convenient for her to view (in and out) 2 of which were Townhomes and we were looking for a Single Family Home preferably in an Active Adult community as we are approaching Retirement age!  In addition she knew nothing about the properties or our areas of interest.  We had asked to see homes in certain neighborhoods and didn't get to see any in those areas.  We saw more homes and neighborhoods (albeit from the outside) on our own.  That is how we called you, from the sign on one of your properties.  We reluctantly called you on our 3 1/2 Hour drive home but were impressed by the questions you asked.   To be honest we were completely turned off the Northern Virginia area as a result of the visit, but you as promised sent us a MLS HOME SEARCH based on OUR "Wish List" and needs with most of the homes hitting the bulls eye.  We were very doubtful however based on our first home buying visit with the other Realtor that we would even come back to the area but my job required it.  So with great trepidation, little hope of finding a home in the Haymarket area and the many obstacles you would have to overcome, (due to our last home buying visit and the other Realtor's treatment of us) you not only met but exceeded our expectations.  We had more than enough homes to view that met our criteria, needs and time restraints.  We even had to go back to a few homes the next day to decide which one we liked best.   You helped us find our home of choice, one that fits all the important things we need and quite a few of our wants as well.  You have been more than what we expected out of a Realtor, you have listened to US, been our eyes, ears and legs to assist us when we couldn't.  You have beenn there when we call or returned it in a timely fashion, our Realtor who is selling our current home doesn't even do that!  When we needed to set up specific services based on our needs you found the right people for the job, even got us quotes and assisted with setting up the necessary appointments etc.  We are even excited about moving to the area now as you have educated us not only about the homes and neighborhoods but the communities, activities offered, areas of interest and more!  If we had Reserved YOU, the first visit would have been a much more pleasurable experience!  We will make sure that when we have family, friends or colleagues looking in the Haymarket Area that they Reserve you! 

I was flattered to say the least.  I told them I was just doing my job.  I feel it is important for a Realtor to realize that their clients time is valuable and that the time they spend with you is not to meet your needs but theirs.   It's hard enough to find the home you want and fits your needs,  but to have to drive 3 1/2 hours to have your time wasted and not even get to see anything remotely close to what you wanted with all the inventory of homes available is frustrating to say the least.
