You Internet Presence Model / Top Misconceptions -  Class#1: "Plan your Internet Presence for real estate agents" Slide#6

 Hello Rain Makers,

I was wondering if I could get your insight on this matter...I am preparing a few classes to help real estate agents in the office to plan and start their own internet presence. Nothing too technical, mostly going around basic principles, ideas and strategies.

This specific slide is about trying to clear up the misconcpetions about developing an internet presence for agents.

I think a lot of those misconceptions are coming from very misleading vendors outthere trying to sell whathever they have to sell (i.e. we will send you 10,000 visitors for $24.85...this is the type of traffic you should expect,, that easy, blahblahblah... )

Ok, I am going first, I think one of the biggest misconceptions outhere is thinking that an agent could develop his/her entire internet presence all for free...

What about you? what do you think are the biggest misconceptions in the internet area for real estate agents?

Cathy, I have been telling my agents for some time now that I can help them create an internet presence for nothing. It's really quite simple actually. In PA if our Broker has the idx setup on their site then the agents can each get their own idx for nothing, just fill out a piece of paper. Combine those with Google's Blogger platform and you have yourself an internet presence. Take it one step furhter and purchase yourself a customized URL for $10 per year and now you have your own custom Blog Page or "Web Presence". So far only one of my older agents have taken me up on it and he don't really do anything with it but if you wanted to see how it could look just go to www.allpoconorealestate.com . I also carry a Blogger and if you want to check it out it is www.poconofinehomes.com . I obviously have other web presence but the Blogger platform is a way to get it to the agents affordably.

Mmmmm.   I have no interest in subsidizing my competition.

I build the web sites, bring the buyers in, refer them to the agents and they pay me a referral fee when they sell a home.

Mmmmmm.

Having a web site or blog is like putting up a billboard on a desert island. If your page is not found and you do not come up high on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) they are just waisting their valuable time.

With that said, getting good results doesn't have to cost a lot of money, and it will not happen by mistake.  Site owners must make the effort to learn what to do to get higher results and most importantly put forth the time and effort to execute the things they need to do.

The two most important things are:

  1. "Content is King" have good content on your pages and make sure your content contains the key words or key phrases that you are trying to get results for.
  2. Link Building.
    • A link to your website or blog is like a vote of confidence in the eyes of the search engines.  More importantly, the link should be a text link using the keywords or key phrases that you are targeting

Out of the two above, the quality of the content is the easiest to accomplish.  Link building is a lot more challenging and is something that continually worked at.

The following site: Nation Wide Real Estate Agents . com is a new site that accepts full HTML so that getting keyword links is easy and efficient.
