Peaches and Stuff Festival is coming and it's FREE!

Date: Saturday 9/12/2009

Time: 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Organizer: Branch Creek Community Church  ( branch@branchcreek.org )

Set the date on your calendar and tell all your friends - the Peaches and Stuff Festival is coming and it's FREE!

11 am to 5 pm, Saturday, Sept. 12.

FOOD

We've ordered bushels and bushels of fresh peaches. Church members will begin peeling peaches early in the morning so we can prepare hundreds of fresh peach pies for the day. Under our food tent you'll find plenty of peach-related food - peaches and ice cream, peaches and waffles, homemade peach pie - to name a few. We'll also have plenty of hot and cold food available. There's also a Peach Cook-Off Contest with prizes given in four categories. The $10 entry fee will be used to support the church's Family and Adoption Ministry.

ACTIVITIES

The purpose of this festival isn't to make money. It's supposed to be a day to celebrate the community we live in - and to invite the community to visit our campus. Some of the fun planned includes:

  • Helicopter rides. We'll have a JAARS helicopter team ready to take ticketholders for a ride. For more than 60 years, JAARS aviation has provided safe, dependable flight services to Bible translators heading into some of the most remote areas of the world. They'll take time off to join the fun of the festival.
  • Fun for the kids - kids' games, inflatable rides, a petting zoo and pony rides. Kids tickets are $5 each and includes entrance to all inflatables, pony ride and petting zoo, craft and games.
  • An illusionist will be performing from noon to 1:30 pm
  • Community shows featuring local performers including New Dance Workshop, karate demonstrations and local singers Jamie Thompson, Danielle and Jennifer Brown and others.
  • Free hayrides for all ages
  • Crafters - for those who appreciate the work of local artisans, we'll have crafters lining our parkways
  • Local businesses - area entrepreneurs will be setting up demonstrations and booths. Come out to get to know your neighbors!
  • Entertainment by local dance schools and karate studios take center stage.
  • For great cooks, we're offering our first Peach Cookoff. Enter your best peach-based dishes in one to four categories: breads, jams or jelly, savory dish and sweet dish. The entry fee is $10 per entry, with all proceeds benefitting BranchCreek's Fostering and Adoption Ministry. By noon Saturday, entrants must have turned in an entry form that lists the dish's ingredients (in order of use, quantities and instructions) along with two dishes of each recipe for judging. Professional chefs have been asked to judge the competition. In addition to bragging rights, winning chefs will receive prizes.
