Who realized how much energy your television really uses.  Well apparently it uses considerable amounts, certainly enough for Energy Star to set new standards that will reduce the amount of energy your TV set burns. The new Energy Star specifications for Televisions was finalized as of September 3, 2009, but will not go into effect until May 1st 2010.

Not sure if this really affects your energy bill, but I guess when there are several million TV's on all the time it consumes a huge amount? Thanks for the post.

TVs are responsible for a large amount of a homes' phantom energy- plasma TVs are the worst.
