Like everyone who joins AR I know who Brad Andersohn is. It was only a matter time before I found out who Bob Stewart is. Where I went wrong was in not reading Brad’s blog on a regular basis, so I missed most of the good tips and valuable information he was sharing with us.

Then Bob came around and started a couple of contests to help us help ourselves. Of course my real reasons for entering the contest was the extra points. I’m sure a lot of us thought the same thing. Why get 225 points when we can get 1000 points for our post. Well the points had a string attached to them. We had to go back and read Brad’s post and at least make a valid attempt at following his guidelines in order to get the points.

So I decided to take some of Brad’s suggestions and use them when updating our websites. It might be a coincidence, but things started to happen. First I found our sites have moved up to page one on Google and Yahoo and are on page two of MSN and Bing. Next is that links to our sites appear on multiple pages and multiple times in the search engines.

I’ve saved the best for last. In the past two weeks my husband has received two contacts via AR and five calls via our website. The latest call came this morning from a gentleman who recently purchased his home and was looking for a local contractor. Mike’s website, AR blog and Localism posts all came up on pages 1 through 5 of Google.

Pretty cool considering we when joined AR back when the Rainmaker Account was free. I think we’re getting an incredible amount of benefits from our membership in a networking community offering totally free membership. Our next step is going to be the outside blog.

So, go figure Brad Andersohn and Bob Stewart may actually know what they’re talking about.

Good information. We daily calls is response to our blogs on ActiveRain. For us, ActiveRain is very important in our marketing. During the past month, our leads from ActiveRain far exceeded the number and quality of leads we received from a Growth Leader subscription that costs over $600 per month.

Roy what surprises me is that we all know that AR is an awesome advantage for Realtors, but the thought of the past as I've read from fellow inspectors is that for us the benefit is in how much we learn from being here. That is either changing as the network and the Internet develop or it was maybe never the case. Sometimes it's as much a matter of where you are vs. what's going on in your particular industry.

John, thank you. I didn't come as too much of a surprise, after all the advice Brad was giving out had to come from somewhere. I was just surprised with how well it seems to have taken off once I started using some of his tips in a different way. Either way, Mike no longer teases me about blogging and has recently started posting as well.

Kate, thank you very much ... I hope you had fun with the family over the long weekend.

Kate, Mike and I were supposed to get away but instead we ended up working. Good news is that Mike has started blogging. We did manage to get a little time to ourselves. I'm sure the opportunity will present itself again.

We spend many "holidays" like that. We always have fun together anyway. I imagine the same goes for you. :)

Bob has no clue what he's talking about, he just does it really good!! ROFL - Just kidding Bob (he really taught me all I know)

This is great news! For anyone that isn't aware of what post she is referring to that Brad wrote, it's this post right here. This post is something that EVERY single member should study, understand and utillize in their blog posts. Thanks again for the kind words, we really appreciate it and it's very humbling to know that our efforts are benefiting our members with increased business. (Even if sometimes it causes you to miss a weekend away)

They sure do know what they are talking about - I spent one whole weekend earlier this year reading their blogs from front to back - didn't want to miss anything else.

I think anyone who follows the guidance of the Active Rain team will discover the benefits. It isn't all about the points but about the dollars that come from catching buyers and sellers attention.

Brad, it's really cool to have you drop in and comment. I'm pretty sure this a first for me and I want to thank for taking the time. Since you stopped by I might as well take the opportunity to thank you for writing they post in the first place. The tips and directions for a successful bog can also be applied to our website.

Now granted I would have never found that out had it not be for Bob's genius in creating those 1000-point challenges, but hey I guess it's a combined and joint team effort. So thank you again for the comment, that particular posts and all those other great tips that you give us that I've neglected to read.

Bob, this is way too cool. I don't think it gets much better than this, a comment from both you and Brad and a feature on top. Not to mention all the extra business we just got. No, It doesn't get much better. Now why didn't someone tell me all I had to do to get another feature was to say something nice about you guys? Had I known that I would have just made it up, just kidding sort of.

Really I want to thank you for those 1000-point challenges you ran back to back. If it hadn't been for them I probably wouldn't have followed Brads tips and none of this really great stuff would have happened. It's a nice thing when an AR member sends you a customer or two, but something like this where your website and your AR blog combined with Localism starts bringing you business ... well that a whole different thing. Cindy that very true, but since we're not Realtors we're not catching buyers or sellers in the same ways you are. Everyone always knew AR worked great for Realtors. The fact that it can work for the rest of us is what's amazing to me. Not to say that some of these tips will work for almost any type of website.

I have so many things bookmarked, to implement at a later date that I need a few more hours in every day to make it all happen. So true about the level of help here for the taking.
