We all have slow times in our business, and some of us more than others lately. But what do you do with this time? How do we help families other than getting them into new homes? I know this community, and I know that it is a caring one. So many people have supported each other, and shared their hopes, dreams, and sorrows together. Well, I want to share what I am doing today to help.
Today is September 9th, 09_09_09 the one day Twitterthon to Stop Child Sex Trafficking. Anyone that knows me knows that I spent my life working with, and for kids, to give them a better life. So when I was asked to help, I did! Here is what I wrote on Squidoo for them, explaining about the Project. Background information on the perverts that are capitalizing on our kids, the worlds kids.
Look at this Video, then get angry! Afterward please help with this Twitterthon for a most worthwhile cause. As one Twitter user said this morning, after I thanked her "@brokerkathy My pleasure, Miss Kathy. $9 and a Tweet is the least any of us can do."
Just made my donation. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We all have the power, no matter how big or small, to make a difference. Thank you my friend.
Awesome post and I am with you that when we are not selling real estate it's good to be giving back to our communities as well as supporting causes like this !
Roy- We do have a lot of opportunities......thank you for stopping by.
Edward & Celia- Thank you , and Bless the Organization Born2fly for the work they do :)
Audrey- Thank you.....and thanks for sending the Tweet out too...we can all make a difference in our own way, as you said big or small it all helps :)
Russell- Yes....there are so many causes, and also so many of us :) Every little bit helps make this world a better place.
Jason- Thank you my friend......People helping People make our communities a better place :)
Monica- I too hope to be back on both Active Rain and Twitter more often. I have missed the friendships, interactions, and the wonderful people like yourself. Thank you for helping with this cause :)
Kathy, That made me angry and sick. I will go to your link and see what I can do to help. You and all the others are a treasure to help these children and it's something we can all to to help. Thank you for bringing more awareness; nothing is more important then helpless children.
Your work and dedication is making a difference. Thank you for posting this. I support and work with www.ijm.org. There is so much injustice in the world-we can make a difference and thank you for caring Kathy!
The three glues that hold us together are the courage of women, the compassion of men and the laughter of children. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for doing what you can to make things better for children.
Hi Carol.....sorry to make you angry and sick, but that was the purpose of the Video, to make people see that it's a global problem, and one all of us can do something about. Thank you for taking the time to do something.
Mara- :)
Cathy- Yes, we can make a difference. With all the projects Volunteers do, we help make the world just a little better one step at a time.
Marcia- Giving is always more rewarding in the long run than receiving....but a good balance of both is best :)
Jane- I never heard that saying about the glue thanks for sharing it, and yes, I hope some people actually went to the site. But it's never too late to help :0
Kathy I am sorry I missed this post first go round. What a great cause and certainly our children are our future and they are the innocent that should be protected.
Thank you all for your encouraging and supportive comments before, during, and after our 09-09-09 Twitterthon.
Kathy is amazing, isn't she? Thanks to her, to you, and to many others, we've raised more than $15,500 for the B2F Project to help stop child trafficking!
Yes, we're still receiving donations for the project. Bottom line: The more donations we receive, the more books we can print, and the more kids we can reach. Remember: our goal is to reach kids before the traffickers do.
Kathy, Horrifyingly strong and important message. I've never hear that proverb before and will not be able to get it out of my head now. I guess that's why they put it in there...... "Someone is watching you closely, someone not impressed with weak excuses". I'll visit their site and thanks for posting.
O.K. I'm back...Well, I obviously missed this one...do you know if they ever made the quoto or more about how the money was spent? Or where alternative places are to donate...now or in the futuer let me know.
Jane- yes to all.....scroll up 3 spaces...that is Diana the Director of the Organization. She has given links that will allow anyone to donate. A wonderful person!!!! They didn't raise what they hoped, but because of people like you and Jane coming back here and finding this.......what you donate now will help reach more kids! BTW that Video NEVER ceases to shock me, and make me angry....and I too had never heard that quote, but I have it now ingrained in my memory.
