Keen skills, meticulous execution and performance are key to success and mastery according to Tom Hart, an industry trainer and leader in California Real Estate. He was the guest speaker at WCR So Alameda Counties monthly luncheon yesterday.

6 Reasons you are not getting Referrals:

     1) You are not asking for them.

     2) You are not paying attention

     3) You are not following up

     4) You are not leaving anything memorable behind

     5) You are not articulating value

     6) You are not providing exceptional service

Tom strived our need to be good listeners and to remember to question our clients.

Other valuable tips from Tom:

Survival in this industry can be achieved by removing negative people from our lives.  We must know our competition, have complete confidence in ourselves and be able to express our value to others.

Tom Hart will be teaching a 3 hour negotiating mastery workshop in late October in the Tri-Valley Area.

During these lean times referrals can make or break an agent. Those that came on during the boom and found a buyer behind every bush. Many sold and moved on to the next one and did not cultivate the fantastic base they could have built. Many are sorry and paying for that mistake now, others have found aother line of work.

So true John! This is not a "luck" industry, but a "Cultivate" industry.

Cathy, You're right.  This is the day of exceptional service. A keen eye for detail.  A very successful marketing friend of mine said the MAJOR reason most companies get someone's business is they ASK FOR IT. LOL

Hi Kathy I attended a workshop at out local Chamber of Commerce and #1 on the list was, Not asking for referrals! Sounds so simple but this had to drilled in my head, so now it's part of my routine!

Great blog, great advice from an even greater stager, thank you for the reminders!

Super Cathy!  You need to add "slacking off and being consumed with a down market". One must continue to market ALL THE TIME! Thank you for sharing ;)
