I had an email conversation with Bob Stewart and as a result, I have nominated Active Rain for the Shine A Light Contest! At first I did not believe that they would qualify, but Bob has assured me that they do! For all that Active Rain has done for us, perhaps we can help them earn some marketing dollars and a little extra exposure as a token of our appreciation.
If you do not know what I am talking about, click on the link Want to Turn Your 1,000 Active Rain Points into $3,000?We should at least qualify providing we have at least 50 members endorse the nomination. With over 158,000 members, we should be able to scrape up a minimum of 50 members. So, please click on the widget below at "endorse this story now." Check out the prizes:
The businesses featured in the three (3) Finalists will each receive a $10,000 grant.
The business featured in one (1) Winner, chosen from among the three (3) Finalists, will receive $50,000 grant and $50,000 worth of marketing support.
The submitters of the three (3) Finalists will each receive an American Express Gift Card valued at $3,000.
I hope you will endorse Active Rain
It would be great if Active Rain wins!
Meanwhile, I hope you are all still nominating your favorite business.
Let's show Amex & NBC Universal what a talented group of professionals belong to this community.
Good Luck Active Rain!

Judy, I just went to the site and tried to endorse Active Rain. It wouldn't let me do anything until I had registered on the site. I did that and got a message that my endoresement was recorded, but the endorsement number for the nomination is shown as 0. You might want to check it.
Judy, I went and looked. I am whooped tonite, but promise to do this tomorrow. I just need to chill, LOL. Long week, and a closing today that took the stuffing out of me.
I just found out that there will be a slight delay with being able to endorse Active Rain. I will let everyone know when you can submit your endorsement. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Judy ! - I endorsed and it increased the endorsements by my 1 right away - however I needed to register first - which I did :o)
We should remind members they need to take the 60 seconds to register first. Put your office address if you dont want to put your home address and phone.
BUT EITHER WAY, LETS GET THESE ENDORSEMENTS IN PEOPLE !!!!!!
I wish I had known about this earlier! I nominated another business earlier today. I posted it on your other post! These business owners are already so excited too! Is Active Rain going to do something for the other participants also? I can only endorse one and I already indorsed my Nominee, I was excited about getting support from other members too, Now That isn't going to happen! I am feeling a little disappointed!
Judy, I registered and endorsed. I suppose I should also write something about AR, and will think about this. How wonderful, thank you for sharing this.
Too bad! This is only open to US residents. It is the intention that counts.....so if ActiveRain wins, I should get 3000 active rain points at least. Right Bob?
HI Judy - Good story you wrote. I have endorsed it. We have our work cut out for us, though. The lead so far is a company with 1165 spotlights. Get busy and endorse this one, folks!
Judy - I hate that I disappointed you! If I had known when I put up the first post that I could nominate Active Rain, I would have announced that first and foremost.
But, PLEASE do not be discouraged - send your notice to all your friends and family. You never know who the judges will pick. Good Luck
Although Active Rain is worthy of consideration I nominated another business. I guess part of my thinking was old fashioned too. I was thinking Brick & Mortar.
If people endorse AR they can't endorse any other businesses, such as the one I'm going to send for the owner of a local bakery who came down with cancer and could no longer have flour or sugar. So she developed a whole line of gluten-free and sugar-free food, including mixes people can bake at home. AR only needs 50 to endorse them, so I hope that people consider other submissions too, before we all jump on and endorse AR (who, I agree, do a lot for us and could use the marketing dollars).
Just to clarify - I do hope people endorse AR - but once they have the 50 they need, you could consider others. :-) Don't want to get myself in any trouble here. Please just delete my comment if it seems out of line.
Delay is OVER and everyone can vote as long as they register. Thank you.
Joetta - Gosh no, I would not delete your comment. Your suggestion was fine and fair. But, I hope nobody stops at 50, the more votes the better. We want Active Rain to capture the judges attention! Thank you for your comment.
Tina - HA HA - I just sent you a personal email and referenced "someone" mentioning that the website was flaky! Then I come back and it was YOU. As I mentioned in my email (to you) it was "flaky" when I tried to nominate it took me 3 times before it finally took! Not sure if it was my virus protection software or the volume of traffic on the site when I was trying to enter the data. It's a mystery to me! Keep trying and thanks for the support!
Hi Erica, Hi Claude. Today we high-jack the re-blog and get the word out.
People, if you have a business pay-pal account IT TAKES AMERICAN EXPRESS so that means each and every single one of you can nominate ActiveRain. Yay! Get to nominating people. I just print out the submission agreement and am going over it now. Wonder what I'll write... Hmm... Something serious. What a scary thought (LOL). ;-)
I am delighted to be able to endorse AR! I think I have received at least half of my RE education right here, reading about everyone's experiences, opinions, ideas and how-to's. AR is the best!
Judy, we're endorsing AR of course. The rules say you have to have a business that takes American Express cards. That's why I made the crack about having a pay-pal business account. There is always a method to my madness (LOL). We're high-jacking the re-blog, which means we syndicate your post to other groups where it doesn't show up so the word spreads. It also means we read and participate here or where ever the re-blog shows up. :-)
You know, I don't know WHY they don't make the drop-down menu for "year born" automatically go to the 1950s. It's cumbersome and annoying to scroll and scroll and scroll to find 1958. Who the hell is voting that was born in 2002?
C- The business (Active Rain) needs to accept American Express and Bob said they do.
Thanks for the reblog hi-jack. But the fun won't stop there. This is JUST the nomination phase. Then there is the voting phase - Yes there is a step 2. I will send out a reminder for the voting phase. We should well surpass the leader at 1,203 for nominations!
1,203 for nominations? Nice... We have to create original works for our nominations and can't cut and paste people, so be careful with this. This is important. :-)
C- You need to endorse Active Rain, there is NO writing involved, unless you are submitting a nomination for another business.
Active Rain can only be nominated once. As long as you have registered, you only have to click on either the "Support this story Endorse Now" in the left column at the top, or lower in the widget where is reads "Endorse This Story Now"
Super easy, no writing required - just register and CLICK.
OK. I'm back. But I have to finish reading all the other requirements, and think of a business! I can't believe I didn't know about this b4 C sent the mass e-mail. Thank you Carolyn!
I love any opportunity eo endorse ActiveRAIN, and have done so. They are well-deserving. (The shine-a-light site was a little challenging to navigate, but I did find my way :-)
We are now up to 39 - Where are the rest of our "active" members? I know you are out there.... I will check back this afternoon.
Meanwhile - thanks to everyone that has participated so far and all of your comments. If we had as many votes as comments, we would be well over the minimum 50.
OK....I'm a sucker for a good story! I'm also number 41. I love Activerain and totally appreciate all that has happened to me and my business because of being here.

I agree with you that AR can win this thing!
