Color and form are important to me.

Dare I say, that I have good taste? If you are like me, and most people that I know; you probably think that you have good taste too. A bit of a grandiose belief about ourselves. But, hey, we are talking healthy egos here.

That is why, recently, I went into color shock. I can't tell you what color, where, why or how. But It was nature inspired, and I gasped for fresh air in the process.

There is something to be said for understated hues and neutrals. Please bring back beige. Boring, but so much more soothing to sensitive eyes.

Especially if the home is for sale. This is no time to exert your individuality.

Under normal circumstances, I actually welcome a creative license, and letting your spirit reign.

Nicely said and humorous, too.  Petty tree photo.

We certainly have seen a variety of hues over the years.  I'm sure you have too!

Hi Lourdes:

I'm honored to be the first 3rd to "comment" on your post... Beige is the new "white" ~ personally, I prefer "egg-shell over beige, just my taste.. "beige, to me is too "blah, and it Analise's my skin tone.. I often wonder.. "What were they thinking" ... when I see a home painted like a kaleidoscope or a rainbow...

Color's is very, very important- more important than we as humans can imagine... When we dress ourselves, we choose the colors that match our mood.. Its true... When we think, we think in "color"...

Thank You for the inspiration...

Color is in the eye of the beholder! I live in a home with a red dining room and a yellow living room. (We call it the lemon drop room) I would have never bought it that way and it will surely be pained when the time comes to sell. Well... maybe NOT the dining room :)

Beige indeed is more pleasing when it comes time to sell the house.

Hi Susan, I have seen quite a lot over the years! But you would think that by now with all the decorating programs on TV, etc., people would know better. :)

Hi Mott, thank you for your nice comment. I could have said egg-shell too, or pale just about anything, over what I saw. My point was to be a little more careful in picking the hue, when it is not just for your private enjoyment.

The color I experienced, wasn't necessarily bright just the wrong, wrong hue. A brief consultation with someone for a second opinion might have tamed that choice. :)

And I am glad that I was able to inspire you!

Marc, Thank you! I completely agree with you!

I love color too, and some people are naturally gifted at picking the right one. A red dining room can be stylish and appropriate, so can a yellow or even blue living room (one comes to mind), in some instances they make such a huge statement that I wouldn't even try to change them for the sake of appealing to a prospective buyer. But that is rare.

But its so boring!  I live in a house that in many ways is not extraordinary - except for the wonderful colors throughout.  If I repainted, nothing would look right - not the blind, the rugs, the upholstery, nothing!  I'd rather throw in a painting allowance  . . .

Michael, but I agree with you! Beige is boring! I don't want to see beige all the time. In fact some people are great at choosing the right colors. I think it takes talent and some people are gifted that way.

Color can make a room come alive, but sometimes the wrong color can also have the opposite effect.

I also agree with you, paint is not a big commitment, and can easily be changed!
