So What... It's Just A Real Estate Convention.....Or Is It???

Every year for the last oh...15 years or so I have headed to Ocean City for the Maryland Real Estate Convention. The only year I missed was 2001, the year we will never forget.

Trade Show Floor

I go for many reasons. It is beautiful at the ocean this time of year. the classes offered are awesome and FREE, the trade show is always entertaining and there is more FREE food than you could ever eat at all the after hour parties put on by vendors I do business with. And lets not forget the networking opportunities that abound when I am there. The relationships built have many a time helped me throughout the year.

Friends

I earned my CRS at the convention, Working with Diversity too. I have learned about short sales, home inspection yucks, legal pitfalls, marketing ideas, just about any and everything I could want. It is 4 days of learning, growing, sharing and laughing.

Long & Foster Booth

Last years attendance was way down. Seems sad that when the market changed so many felt the need to back away. It's a year later and I still haven't figured that one out as to me I need the convention more than ever.

Yes there is a cost. For me it is $195 for the convention and a condo split 3 ways. Not bad in my book when you factor in all that is learned and all that is shared. It actually works out to be priceless.

 Me and Harrison Ford

In an up market or a down market or even those that are going sideways, attending my State Real Estate Convention is well worth my time and money. And my clients appreciate it too. They know I am committed to the industry and to keeping on top of helping them no matter what market we are in that year.

So What... It's Just A Real Estate Convention... Or Is It???

Nope... It's More

Martha, I agree. With technology changing so rapidly and our markets so quirky, it is a good to to connect AND have fun with our colleagues. I am doing more this year after missing a few.  Thanks.

Martha:  I have to say, if our State convention was held in a neat place near the shore, they'd get my attention too.  Richmond is not such a draw.

Martha, I think it's worth every cent.  It's wonderful to get away, meet new friends and reconnect with old ones and have some FUN.

It's always great to see everyone from the state come to our town for this event.  What a better opportunity to show off our city, talk to our collegues about the market and see what we have in common.  I especially look forward to the opportunity to socialize after hours at all the events.  Have a great stay and maybe I will see you around.  Stop by the Women's Council of REALTORS booth too!

Martha sounds like the convention does a lot for you.  These events are great networking and learning opportunities.

By the way my children loved Ocean City, when they were smaller we would rent a condo on the beach.

I have also become a believer in conventions. Lots of great info there. The quality of the courses is excellent. Cheers to our MAR staff for a great job!
