I would say that this date is one of those days you will always remember exactly where you were when you heard the news.

I am a big fan of talk radio, and was going to the office for our weekly sales meeting.  When I got in the car and the radio came on I was not listening to a local program but to Peter Jennings reporting the news.  I though how strange is this.  As he continued to report on the story the second plane had not yet struck.  Just as I arrived at the office the second tower was hit.

Needless to say the meeting did not take place and those at the office were in disbelief.

I heard the boom from my house when the plane hit the Pentagon. (I live in Northern Virginia.)  It was a pretty crazy day.

I was walking into Mail Box Etc. looked at the TV and said what a horrible picture  to be showing on TV   so early in the morning. The manager then told me that it had just happened so we all gathered around the TV.

That day we went to church and prayed, the church was empty except for our familyl which seemed surprising to me.

9/11 a National Day for Remembrance. God Bless America!

Richard - I know exactly where I was when I first heard the news. I was in California, on my way to Countrywide Home Loans. As I was pulling into the parking lot, I received a call from someone in New York. They were suppose to fly out because I had some concert tickets I was looking to sell. The plan was for them to fly out, pick up the tickets, and go to the concert 2 days later (it was a sold out show). Anyway, they told me "so they shut down all of the flights because of what happened and I'm not sure if I can get out today". Not having turned on the TV or Radio yet, I had no idea why all of the flights were stopped. They told me what happened, I turned on the radio and listened to some of the details. When I went into the office, they already had a few televisions set up for people to watch as they knew many could have family in/around New York. It just didnt seem real.

I was in bed during the attack.  I woke up and turned on the tv as I got ready for my office meeting, back when I went to office meetings, and I saw smoke and fire and heard the words World Trade Center.  I immediately thought of the World Trade Center in Dallas because in my former life, I was a buyer for Michael's Stores, and we spent a lot of time there.  It took me a while to figure out what they were talking about.

I was at home and 8 months pregnant. I was watching the news when the first plane hit so I pretty much saw it all from the beginning. It was terrifying.

My daughter is now 7 and I asked her yesterday if anything was said in school about it and she said no. I hope she's mistaken and that schools are talking to elementary school children about what happened as well as children of all ages. We can't afford to become complacent and forget.

Richard,  I was driving to work on what was going to be a normal day.  Wow... how crazy the day turned out to be.  I will never forget.
