Remember the old kids refrain, "Rain, rain, go away, come again another day, little _ _ _ _ _ wants to play"...???

As we got older we realized how valuable and important RAIN is to living...!!!

It's not accidental that in our English language 'rain' plays such a role in the meaning of such important words as...brain...drain...grain...train...all important concepts in the growth of society...

In fact we talk about 'brain drain', 'rain drain', and 'grain train'...equally important concepts in our historic development...

Just in our area of Southeastern Pennsylvania, we have experienced an unusually heavy rain year in 2009...causing everything to grow much faster...wheat, weeds, and wildflowers...and things like thistles, thorns, and thunders to be more abundant...!!!

If we are a patient people, we will appreciate the values of rain and also tolerate its inconveniences without complaining...

Of course, always remembering what the Church has taught for centuries...All Things In Moderation...!!!

Have a great family weekend...and refrain from strain...!!!

Fran.... I lived in WA State a long time ago, and I know about rain. :-)    In your case, please send a couple of those rain clouds out our way.  CA is always in a drought. Sigh

Bring on the rain.  I haven't had to water any hedges except newly planted ones this year.  My grass is green and my shrubs are not droopy.

Fran, rain can be good in some years and similar to your area in Pennsylvania, North Texas had a "little" more rain this summer than our normal crispy fried 100 plus degrees. I enjoyed it at least seeing somewhat greener lawns vs. the brown stuff. Everything in cycles. It's good sometimes when we get those rains.

One advantage to all the rain this summer is that I've never seen the grass and trees stay this green so late in the season!

Fran,

We just got the rain starting this morning. It has been about 3 weeks since it rained her and farmers really welcome God's blessings today. Me too, very good for my garden!
