Your TRUE No Closing Cost Lender
Think You Want to Refinance?
When you refinance your mortgage - just like when you do pretty much anything - you'll find that there are both pros and cons. If you think that you want to refinance, it's important to take the time to know more about refinancing.
When you refinance a mortgage loan, you are, in effect, taking out a loan to repay a loan. In other words, if you have a loan with a high interest rate, you apply for a loan with a lower rate and make lower payments to the lender. Other reasons why people refinance include locking in a low fixed rate rather than keeping a mortgage with an adjustable rate, or to take on an adjustable rate loan in hopes of taking advantage of lowering interest rates.
Of course, there are other elements to refinancing as well. If you've been in a home for a while and have built equity, you may choose to refinance for more than the amount still owed on your home loan - then you can use the additional funding to cover high interest credit card debt, car payments or similar expenses.
There are also "points" to consider - will you pay for points that are a percentage of the loan. You'll also want to think about costs associated with an appraisal of the property or closing the loan.
If you think that you want to refinance, therefore, it's important to look at your situation, look at loan options and to ask the questions that you have about the pros and cons of refinancing to a loan counselor . That way, you can be sure to get the answers that you need - answers that will help you to make the right decision.
