Connecticut Home Foreclosures - Connecticut Ranked 24th In August 2009 Nationally
According to the latest report furnished by RealtyTrac, Connecticut is
ranked #24 in August 2009 nationally with a total of 2198 foreclosure filings which consists of notices of default, auctions and bank owned properties. This represents an increase of 40.09% for Connecticut home foreclosure filings from July 2009. Total foreclosure activity in Connecticut increased 22.25% from August 2008. Connecticut was ranked #29 in foreclosure filings in July 2009.
With 1 in every 547 homes facing foreclosure, Fairfield County has the highest number of foreclousre filings with 640 followed by New Haven County with 577, Hartford County with 470, New London County with 136, Litchfield County with 130, Middlesex County with 97, Windham County with 85 and Tolland County with 63.
For the month of August 2009, the Top 10 areas New Haven County having the highest amount of new foreclosure activity are:
Waterbury - 101
New Haven - 83
Meriden - 55
Hamden - 43
West Haven - 39
Milford - 36
Naugatuck - 33
East Haven - 31
Ansonia - 17
Branford - 16
A continued weakening in the financial and manufacturing sectors and a flattening of the job market has been a contributing factor in Connecticut home foreclosure filings. This brings Connecticut to a total of 7,794 foreclosue filings year to date.
